I installed Gutenberg eReader by Cynosure.X International LLC.

APP installed OK and I could access the Gutenberg books.

HOWEVER, a bar appears across the top of the screen that appears to be advertising. It initially say WeChat - Free Voice Message and a down arrow. Then a bunch of ads scroll by. WTH is this???

Gutenberg is a respectable org. Surely they don't condone this?

I don't think that app is by Gutenberg in the first place..
If my search is correct it is a ported Android app.. Quite a few (most?) free android apps use advertisements.. That is the way they ear revenue.. Nothing wrong in that IMO.. so you will get ads when you use them in playbook too..

Problem is, this is an ereader - It's very disconcerting to have ads continually flashing by at top of a books page while you are trying to read. I will check with Gutenber to see if they support that app. Even if it is free - it is unusable for me.

If you don't like it, don't use it.

I would suggest side loading Kindle (Android App) - Very nice, well polished application

Or

Break open your wallet and buy a good native playbook app like Playepub, think it is like 1.99. Lot's of features and the developer is very active making improvements.
