Do anyone know about if there will come a Football Manager Handheld? Like one for iPad?
Odds are that there's no chance of one until the playbook launches in europe, maybe they'll do one at the end of the year when the new version would be due on other platforms as usual.
it would be like a dream for me, with Football Manager on PB :D !
I'd say the most realistic hope would be if there was eventually a Honeycomb emulator on the Playbook and SI made an Android Tablet version of FM. I doubt the sales of the PLaybook in FM popular countries will be sufficient for SI to devote time to a Playbook specific version. Sadly :(
We (IceyApps) are going to bring a football managment game to the PlayBook for the start of the [English] season, so around August. It's currently being designed and ideas about what should be included are being chucked around. We also want to bring it to BlackBerry Smartphones and Andriod phones/tablets so the muilty play aspect of the game will be a lot better, although this won't be till Q4. You did read correctly, a game will come to the PlayBook before other devices :D.
Wow. This is good news! Are you a Football Manager fan? Anything close to SI games efforts would be very welcome!
I do enjoy football management games. One thing there won't be is 3D matches, we were talking about this today and decided that it would take to long to do it plus some other reason, just thought I would let you guys know. We are going to review that decision next year when we start work on the 2013 edition, although we aren't sure if we should do a versiom every year, so start with NAME 2012 or just NAME 1.0 then update it as we go along, if we do NAME 2012 we will of course update that throughout the year. It would be good to get some of your feedback on this.
3D has added very little in my opinion to Football Manager.
Championship Manager / Football Manager was at its best when it was a really immersive experience. That is, you weren't constantly reminded that you were playing a game (strange as that may seem!). The players / stats transfer system was all so realistic that it drew the player in. It succeeded whereas other sims didn't because other sims were less realistic. If Messi signs for Blackpool the game is over as it loses credibility with the player. So immersive realism, not 3d graphics etc, is the key.
Finally, one area where FM has lost some of the emersion is in its media interaction. This is repetitive and is like a constant alarm saying "you're playing a video game". It rips the player away from the immersiveness.
So I think no 3d is fine. Bells and whistles didn't build the FM franchise, realism did. If you get that right you'll get your following!
But how will the matches be then?
There will be a text mode that will, just have text commentry plus there will be an instant result mode.
Football or Soccer?
