I just picked up dead space since it was on sale. I didn't know anything about the game except that it was a shooter game. Anyway I just started playing it. HOLY Crap! I have never been so scared in my life. Wow.

    Great job EA!

I remember others reporting that back when it first came out, and I had the same thing myself.

Always nice to see someone new getting scared sh*tless though! Thanks for sharing.

    * shirtless, I meant, of course.... what did you think?

Haha same situation here. I have downloaded a few days ago, after midnight. I had my headphones on, not to disturb my flat mates. Usally I don't watch horror nor thriller movies, I tend to remember on them for long time. I also didn't know too much about this game, just heard it is very good. So when I saw it is on sale, I grabbed it right away, and started to play. Everything was cool during the tutorial, till the first evil creatures started to come. That was the right time to put my Playbook down and try to sleep For me this game is definitely a daytime game.

Lol I always say to myself that I should play it before going to bed, but then when that time comes, I just want to sleep well so I never end up playing it! Now I play it at night-time but not right before bed, unless I want a really good scare!

I play with headphones too...I am not into this kind of games but I gave dead space a chance. I get scared easily but I still enjoy it and try to play as much as I can!!

You folks are making me want to buy it... sort of.

Is it a "twitchy" kind of scared or more of a "creepy" kind of scared?

I like the latter but not the former. If things jump out at you and make loud noises, that's not scary to me, just startling. If you hear a rustling whisper in your ear that you realize only after hearing it for 15 minutes is saying "kill, kill, kill" - that's much creepier and scarier.

    Which is it?

I highly recommend picking up Dead Space 1 & 2 on PS360 or PC if you do not already have them. Dualshock 3 or XBOX pad and some nice headphones is the way to enjoy Dead Space. The Playbook game is great but if you want the real Dead Space experience, pick it up on console or pc

    You will not regret it

I used to play Resident Evil 4 on my Game Cube at night with the lights off through a pretty decent surround sound system with dual powered subs. It was a real rush!

Now that we have the PSX emulator we can also
    play games like Silent hill
which too me is got to be
the scariest/creepiest game I ever played. Just the
music alone sent chills up my spine.

Not sure if I'm being sentimental or just old, but I remember having the crap scared out of me by a PC version of Doom 3 around eight years ago.

I'm enjoying Dead Space on the PB, but don't know whether I could take it in the pitch-black media room on a 108" projector screen via my kid's PS3!!
