I suppose I can redownload from my online library if I really need to but feel better having a copy of my books on the PC if possible. I have gone looking for them on PB but cant seem to find them. Anyone have any clues?

I think they are probably hidden in some system folder. I don't recall if there's a kobo desktop version where you can download/read such books.
There is a desktop version of Kobo, but your books for the PlayBook version of Kobo will be automatically re-downloaded OTA once you log in with your existing Kobo account after a re-install of Kobo. I did just this when I reset my PB from factory default a few weeks back.
download the kobo desktop app and your it will sync all your books that you bought from kobo
Thanks for the info guys :)
