Hey guys so I was just browsing App World and Ran into CANABALT !!! its such an awesome game and it has finally made its way to the playbook. Its currently free and it plays awesome. This game is a must download so many awesome apps coming YAAAY

I'm finding it takes a little while to load each time. But once the white screen disappears and the little loading meter pops up it works fine.

Ya I was getting that too I restarted the playbook and now it works fine. Looks like it has a few bugs.

As of right now I'm terrible ask me in a couple of day... perfect practice makes perfect :P. Im enjoying this game immensely though the music makes me hyper.

The white screen is usually due to loading issues - make sure you have network connection on first load!

thank you so much for taking the time and bringing this over to the playbook. It's highly appreciated by many of us!! It runs great just had a little trouble with the white screen but if you reboot the playbook it stops. Thanks again

By request of the original developer of Canabalt, my app has been removed from BlackBerry App World.

I will soon be contacting some other popular game developers and see what other games I can put on this platform.

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this has caused, but I had no choice.

Interesting. I thought it may have been ported without the permission of the original developer but remembered reading that he had made it open source so I didn't think much of it.

It's unfortunate and I'm sure you had the best of intentions. Looks like I won't be uninstalling it for a while :P

Excuse me? I never did anything wrong - I never claimed the game was mine, the app even said when you opened it that the game was not mine and that the game was by semi-secret software!

I spoke to Adam, the creator, he didn't threaten me, or hold any grudges. Let me quote him...

Its ok its completely understandable. I did see your disclaimer so you covered yourself its not like you were making money off of it. If I recall correctly I thought this game was made open source?? no?? It will make it eventually to the playbook, lets hope Adam is reading this and sees that people love this game and would love to see it on the playbook and future BB10 phones. Lets keep it positive

This is a top notch game. It is really a shame that it is not available to everyone. Maybe the author can rethink the position and add it to AppWorld for 0.99? I'd be more than willing to buy it!

Me and my friend made the app. It was removed from App World at the creator of the original games request. The app was made by me and a friend, but the creator of Canabalt requested I remove it.

I'm sorry it was removed, and I wish it didn't have to happen, but it's only fair on the creator, because, afterall, he might want to make it for this platform himself.

How can the original dev. retract open source? Is that like an Internet Porn Star wanting all of their pictures pulled down from the net?

I have Canabalt on my PB but it will no longer load past the intro screen where you are told to tap once to jump and tap twice to go to full screen. I looked for it on App World to see that it was gone.

What is Open Source anyway if it is not OPEN? Doesn't that mean no restriction to what ever platform it is ported to? Or is it open source as long as it is only on Platform X or Platform Z but not Platform Y? I remember that happening to Virtualization, Microsoft tried to limit license use to the processor and native hard drive partition but got thrown out of court and laughed at, now anyone can have Windows on a Mac as long as they have a valid license; a license is a license regardless of platform and all of the case history proves that out!


I would have told the guy OH WELL you made it OPEN SOURCE so sue me and let a judge decide and he will be told by the judge OH WELL just like all of the other cases that tried to retract OPEN SOURCE!
