I dont expect them to allow me to tether for free. To be completely honest, I expected to have Bridge, and the browser to not work. And I would have been bothered, but accepting of that.

But to blanket everything out and just not allow the app at all? Even though the tethering is only a portion? What about the other highly touted features of Bridge? They just go out the window? I'm absolutely furious. This is beyond ridiculous, and in no way is it defendable.

I looked at my Bridge support in Blackberry App World, and it looks like Telus does support the app. Hopefully this gets cleared up by the morning.

I bet you this happened because there was a main page article on Crackberry about the difference between Bridge/Tether and how you could still use Bridge Browser

This is very disappointing if this is true.

I was so excited about getting the PB and this new put a huge damper on it. I have my on reserve and if this is true I might be cancelling that order. Now all this time defending the PB from apple fanboys was done for nothing.

I believe there will be a work around but just an fyi. I received the unable to install message when tried to install OTA. I am with T-MO using a 9800 from AT&T. I simply went to the bb website an installed via app world through my desktop.

Figured it out for telus customers - hopefully its available through appworld later.

    1. Connect your phone to your computer.
    2. Go to appworld.blackberry.com
    3. Login with your informatino
    4. Search for bridge
    5. Install the appworld plugin (if you don't already have it).
    6. "Sync" blackberry bridge with your device.
    7. DONE!

I just need a tablet now.

I'm on ATT with a 9800, and I can also confirm it does install and run if you load the COD files with BBSAK. However, I do not get a message about updating BBM, I'm running BBM 5.0.3.13 (from beta zone).

it is a very handy tool for advanced and middle users
you can download it from bbsak.org then download the cod files found in my post or in josecarlosc post (origional uploader) extract it to a folder on your desktop
in bbsak click on modify CODs
then click on Install COD(s) -- make sure you select all of the cod files in the folder
    wait for it to install
and you should be good to go

Thanks a lot for the cod files, I was on the verge of a breakdown. I'm picking up my Playbook at 8am, and Bridge will be the first thing I test. I'll definitely report what happens. I'm on the west coast though, so someone on the east will probably beat me to testing.

I have it installed as well. we'll see if it works tomorrow when my PB arrives. I'm using BBM 6.0.0.56, so that may be why i'm not getting the BBM update message.
