Uh, you realize that the article didn't say a single about denying anything RIM said right?

Europe this morning to declare some stats and set the record straight on some myths, kinda rubbing it in to the doubters:
Myth #1: The BlackBerry Market is shrinking
Myth busted: There are 75 million BlackBerry users around the world, up 20 million from last year
Myth #2: BlackBerry users don�t use apps
Myth busted: 75 million app downloads/day, 174 million a month, avg. user downloads 30 apps/yr
Myth #3: BlackBerry developers can�t make money
Myth busted: BlackBerry App World has more paid downloads than the Android Market, 2nd most profitable app store after Apple, generates 40% more profit than the Android market apps, 13% of BlackBerry developers have make over $100,000 or more from BlackBerry App World apps.
In addition, it was also announced that the BlackBerry App World reached the 2 billion download mark in January 2012, currently has 60,000 available apps and available in over 26 countries.
The Android Market has about 400,000 available apps, over 11 billion app downloads. Apple�s App Store has over 15 billion app downloads with over 425,000 apps.
Here�s another cool stat that came out of the presentation today, especially since the PlayBook 2.0 is going to be available this month: 90% of BlackBerry PlayBook owners upgrade to the latest OS within one month of it being made available.
All of these are impressive, yet very shocking numbers above. Showing these stats will help RIM rebuilt their credibility in the market. Now we just need the PlayBook 2.0 OS and the new BlackBerry 10 devices to launch.
Does this give you fresh perspective on RIM?

This can also be due to the fact that there are lots of Android users who get paid apps (apk) without paying for them.
Um ok.... Still doesn't change anything just bc people can steal apps.
so they should calculate all the Android apps people are not paying for(actually stealing) into the paid apps percentage :rolleyes:
Well, if it makes it out to be a negative against RIM then they should.
This was actually a critique of Android. There are probably much more paid app downloads on Android. But, unfortunately, app developers are not getting all the money they are supposed to get. Fewer incentives to develop for Android.
I hope this will not be the case with PB OS apps.
So I take it people believe that the video of the mammoth crossing a river in Siberia is real? Just because someone publishes something on the internet does not make it true. In this case, RIM is using statistics to make bad numbers look like something else. Android market is overrun with free apps, and much of the money is generated by ads in the apps. That is not taken into account. Apps in App World are also notably more expensive than those in the respective stores for Apple, Android, Amazon, and Microsoft. If most of your apps are paid apps and most of someone else's are either free or markedly cheaper, it is easy to make uninspiring numbers look better. RIM needs to improve its products, deliver on schedule, and turn its game around. PR (aka sermons) for the faithful can't hide the downward trajectory. There are reasons for the stock decline, the change in CEO, etc. and PowerPoint presentations do not make them go away. Sorry to add a bit of realism....
A lot of android users don't buy apps. I'm not talking about piracy. They generally opt for free apps. That said I'm sure the big android apps generate plenty of money
I just read what you wrote on the interwebz, by your logic it isn't true. So you have proof that app developers make less in the long run writing bb apps? Stock price, pr, etc have nothing to do with the article which is written by someone other than RIM.
