Has anyone run across some not so useful apps on the app store?
I was purchasing glasses from an online dealer and wanted to measure my existing frames. Could not find a ruler for the life of me and pulled out the PLAYBOOK and searched for a ruler app.
I found a few paid apps that contained a screen shot of a ruler (expensive and utterly useless when a measurement is critical).

I then recalled some shop days where I was exposed to using calipers. As a joke I searched "Digital caliper" and was pleased to find an app that does just that. Dual unit measurement readout with a few other neat features.

    So my findings:
    not so useful- Ruler
    Useful - Digital Caliper

What are your "not so useful vs Useful" app findings?

Not so useful: most of the currently available apps.
Useful: not many, but GeeReader is high on the short list.

aVNC, Comics, Word To Go, are all apps I use frequently. I bought a few games to occupy myself whilst waiting for wife, client, coffee pot.

Best so far - Scientific RPN Calculator. Looks just like an HP 11c. Nice.

    Worst - the flashlight crap-apps.

    Most wanted - native email.

Most disappointing - Kobo, and there is no good Klondike solitaire!

I never thought I'd say this but my favorite app right now is CONQU, a free "to-do list" type app that's more polished than just about everything else I tried on PB.

apps that have a lot of potential but are still a bit rough around the edges include:

    - SKIT (for stylus note talking)
    - COMICS
    - NOTO

This is my first post. I am a professor with 9 kids so I use my BB torch and playbook like you wouldn't believe. Best apps right now are Skytunes, Bluebox and aVNC. I use the Playbook for lectures (powerpoint, youtube videos as well as the occasional audio file) but really could use animation on powerpoints. Really want to be able to connect my bluetooth speakers to my playbook as well. So far, the playbook has replaced my laptop and has saved my shoulder from carry my laptop across campus

Yeah, an iBooks equivalent would be great to have.

Has anyone given the digital caliper a try? I was surprised with the precision due to the hd screen!!!

The problem i have with the digital caliper is putting objects on my Playbook screen to measure. other than that i think it is a cool idea.

Compass is a bit odd. But it apparently helps folks get the gps working in the other gps apps including Bing.
