Not sure if I understand this one. My new Playbook Calculator has this percent symbol yet my old playbook does not? I can find no way to update it or anything.

Can somebody help me fix it?

How about a screenshot of the one with the % key. I'm on 2.1 beta and I don't have a % key. It's not like you really need one.

I am on the Beta as well. I guess it took away the percent key as my wifes new one on the current official operating system has a percent key.

I will live without it I guess.

can't get screen shot now, but .668 has the "%" where your "x^2" is, reduces the "=" key to 2 rows high by chopping a row height off the top, and moves the "x^2" to the spot vacated by reducing the "=" height

2.1.0.840 doesn't have it. As I said, no biggie. If you want to know what 45% of some number is, just multiply it by 0.45.

How about a screen shot showing how it works in a calculation Months ago there were threads arguing as to how it should work. Say you have a price and you want markup by 25%. I have a % symbol on my calculator in 2.0.1.668 All it does is divide the number preceding it by 100. If you wanted to mark up a price by 25% you would have the relationship:. P*(1+25%).

    Always the long way:

add up 25% to $100 item

    100 x 0.25 = 25 + 100 = 125

But I get your point .... makes it a very slow calc.

I'm surprised that it doesn't sit in the Scientific Calc

Yup, the official OS has a % key. The newest beta does NOT have a % key.

If you search, you will see long arguments regarding the way the pb handled the use of the % key. It does not calculate like it does on the bb phone or most other "cheap" friendly calcs. So people thought it was defective. But the real Math folks agreed that the pb was correct and that other calcs make assumptions that are not mathematically appropriate. So, maybe rim decided to end the discussion - NO % key!

    Add 25% to $100 item..

    100 * 1.25

    Find 25% of 100
    100 * .25

The % key gets you nothing but ambiguity. It operates differently on different calculators.
