Can someone confirm for me if apps in ontario are inclusive of HST?

For example is Dead Space $9.99 + HST or is it $9.99 inclusive.

    Thanks

I'm from ontario and i have bought a few songs and apps and haven't been charged HST. Of course all my purchases have been .99 cents and 1.29 I don't know if that makes a difference.

I've never noticed if they charge HST. The email receipts say that taxes may be charged in addition to what the receipt says.

I'll check my bill carefully when it comes this month and let you know.

Im just intrigued mainly for the purposes of being a tight arse.

Dead Space 9.99 UK $9.99 Canada = 6.24 UK Though even is HST is added on top it's still a saving. All helps towards the next flight.

Shhhhh. Don't speak too loud or Dalton may hear you.

That is an interesting question though. Why aren't they, apps etc, taxed?

I've bought individual song and full albums from 7digital, and I've always only paid the price that is shown.

Apps in App World are purchased from a service located in the United States so HST does not apply.

hmm. In that case I will leave my app purchasing until I get to Canada.

So when purchasing through Canada where does it say you purchase the apps from?
If I click to buy an app on the confirm purchase page it says

Products Sold by Digital River S.a.r.l through Blackberry Appworld.
Are they all distributed by Digital River but an alternative division?

Digital River processes the payments for the apps, which are actually processed in Luxemburg - a popular tax haven. I always assumed that the payment location was in the US as that's where Digital River's headquarters are located, but it appears I was mistaken. Other Digital River customers such as Microsoft, Acer, Benq, Logitech and Trend Micro state that the payments are processed in Luxemburg, so I don't see why RIM would be any different.

How are you getting apps cheaper? I'm from the UK and can't understand why an app that costs $5 still shows up in my app world as 5. Surely if something is $5, I should get it for about 3.50? i haven't seen any conversion of app prices when I have bought things. Does it just show up at the paypal stage?

You do realize that UPS or Fedex has to canoe the goods over the Atlantic don't you - that costs money. Obviously they opted for simplicity over fairness and just converted the $ to the . Do they throw taxes on top of that? Sales taxes have been applied to my purchased in the States.

You don't get the app cheaper if you are in the UK. My question was based on the fact I will be in Toronto in the next two months so I can then buy the apps in Canada at the $ listed price.

Depending on which country you are in the apps will be listed in the currency of that country.
