I really don't know about Tethering but appworld seems to require WIFI and definitely will not work bt/bridge. It might be the same with tethering.
app world does not work through the Bridge but it will work with local Wifi so just wait a little if you have a BlackBerry 7 phone.
I don't quite understand your reference to the BB7 phone. To clarify, PB App World is available only via a direct wifi connection. App World is never available via a bridged or tethered Bluetooth connection (no matter what kind of smart phone you are using or how it is configured to access the internet).
You can test this for yourself by configuring your BB so that it is using its wifi connection and turning off wifi on your playbook. When you try to open App World a network error message will be displayed. Try this while bridged and again while tethered, the result will be the same.
He's implying to the Hotspot feature included in OS 7.1. Both AppWorld and the Android runtime run perfectly on my 9900 with Hotspot enabled.
Yea, my bad... Thanks for clarifying bulls
I disagree, I have used BB App World while tethered to my BB Tour. However, as of a couple weeks ago, it longer works. I've been a huge supporter of BB and the Playbook but it's getting harder and harder to support them.
the only way to use appworld on a blackberry playbook is:
1) regular wifi
2) mobile hotspot wifi
otherwise, you will kot be able to connect to appworld
things may change with the official 2.0, but these sre currently the only 2 methods of connecting the playbook to appworld
there are only 2 ways of connecting a playbook to appworld at this time:
1) regular wifi
2) mobile hotspot "wifi"
peace
The OP's question has come up often since launch and I have tested App World connectivity several times during that period. You must be using a version of the OS that RIM created just to peeve you. For the rest of us, App World has always needed a WiFi connection.
