Nope; just a high-functioning autistic -- otherwise known as an IT guy.
I love seeing updates that show issues have been fixed. It shows the developer is actively improving the app. Makes me much more likely to purchase an app.
Any mechanism that allows a vendor to artificially inflate customer feedback scores and remove customer feedback is NEVER good for the consumer.
RIM allowing this dishonest practise is shameful and pathetic.
Maybe i wasnt very clear but i understand what you are saying and i dont think devs should delete a negative review just because it is negative, but these reviews had nothing to do with the app itself, they were directed at me. I admittedly made a mistake in the process because of a misunderstanding with appworld/ lack of documentation and slowness of RIM to approve changes in description(over a week!! -- and they might approve the new release before the description), anyway I just checked and it was only two reviews i requested to be removed because as i said they were directed at me and not the app. I do leave negative reviews if they relate to the app and would actually help someone.
Also i should state my app did have a bug that was reported by email by a couple people and i replied to every email sent to me even all the ones about the price change and people understood when i explained it to them and then went on to purchase the app.
I understand and share your disillusionment, but a categorical statement with no support does not contradict a carefully constructed argument to the contrary. Argue with my logic; prove me wrong -- please!
I agree. Someone should also mention the currency inconsistency with pricing across various counties. It's a common theme with RIM and the App Store. Not QUITE kosher.
Why does this exact thread revive repeatedly....
I agree with the OP, RIM should be pro-active in this regard. Allowing developers to falsify customer satisfaction ratings is the height of fraudulent practices. The customer will blame RIM, not the dishonest developer (of which I suspect there are more of then not).
ive always wondered if app world did this. but idk... i see a decent # of negative reviews.

plus if they deleted bad reviews, why not delete the creepy reviews with folks leaving their pins and descriptions? lol

Yes, there are negive reviews on many apps, but re-visit those app reviews, say a week or so later, and they're gone...the negative ones, that is.
Digital River is the one handling AppWorld?
And RIM is indeed entirely to blame, since RIM has intentionally implemented the rubber stamp policy on developers' comment removal requests.
I have to disagree. I would prefer not to see the garbage reviews that have no value whatsoever. If the review simply says "doesn't work", then that review is useless to me, as well as the developer. Why would one consider or even believe a review like that when it doesn't look like any time or thought was put into it? Most likely if the reviewer didn't take time to explain themselves then I doubt they took the time to contact the developer and try to have their issue resolved.
There will always be jacka$$es and idiots who try and skew reviews, as well as spam. I'm confident that if a developer's app sucks and they choose to hide it purposefully that it'll some how get out about that. My two favorite apps have been Battery Guru and Book Reader. The support and usefulness have gone beyond the price asked for them.
Speaking of free apps going paid and users giving low stars and bad reviews because of that... they should also be removed as well. So what if the price changed. If you don't deem the price worthy then don't buy/use it. Obviously you find the need to use it otherwise you wouldn't be b1tching about it. Most of the time price increases are justified with support, new features, etc.
It makes it hard to buy an app without having a trial. I have just bought files and folders because i could use it for 3 days to try it out.
Why don't developers have a trial on their apps like on android. It would make things easier for us, as at the minute i am relying on these forums to get information on an app to see what people say about it.
I am going to buy magelan compass in a couple of weeks when i have read all the comments on it in these forums.
And RIM is also responsible for allowing people to comment and rate apps that you haven't even purchased. What kind of nonsense is that?
Go to Apple's app store or Google play and try to comment or rate an app you haven't downloaded, you can't.
is that true?!!! I cant leave reviews unless i have bought it or once bought it and have the option to reinstall it.

I really dont mind seeing a lot of "doesn't work" feedback or reviews, rather than seeing only a few positive feedbacks, from the developer themselves :D just kidding.
For me, just leave all the feedbacks, if your app really works, it works, people will really leave a feedback, if it doesn't work, i myself sometimes is guilty of being to lazy to explain in my feedback, i just uninstall the app.
No, they merely handle the payments. And that's changing, apparently, with a new entity (or rather at least three of them) which RIM is setting up, for the fall.
Now this is bad, i filed for refund of a app that is not as advertised on appworld, no reponse whatsoever. Well, this i have to point out is the difference between apple's itunes, my wife had a problembrecently (not that of a big deal really) with an in-app purchase on her ipad2, without any further question, itunes support refunded right away, then series of follow email to check if the problems have been solved. I hope RIM 's appworld will someday be like that.
Speaking of this, i also have a few problems with appworld on my Bb, no response from developer, sigh.
Oh well.
What app is it if you dont mind? I like to buy apps and want to know what to avoid :).
I hate it when devs dont answer. I dont think I have let a single customer (who has emailed me) go more than a few hours without some sort of reply...
Refunds are usually easy from [email protected]. If you dont get a reply, try again and say you get an error and app doesnt install. Dirty, but works usually. And as a dev, I want unhappy people to get their refunds. Albiet sometimes they dont tell you that it never arrived.

Buy with paypal, more easier to get refund
