App Signing?
For all those people who have already developed apps for the PlayBook: Can you run your self-created apps on the playbook without having it signed? For instance, if I want to write an app that does a port-scan on my network, RIM's probably not going to approve it for the store. But can I store / run it on my playbook?
Just wondering...

PlayBook is designed to run only apps that are signed. So you have to sign your self-created app and then you can load it onto your PB. Just enable development mode on your PB and then install your app.
The other way is to use create a token for your app, but then again, the token will expire, I think in 30 days...

I kinda figured there was some sort of security measure. So if I put my PB in dev mode, I can run anything I want? Cool :-)

Still can't load an unsigned app (development mode or not).
It is easy to sign the apps after you get keys.
The keys took about 45 minutes to arrive after I asked for them.

By the way, I'm not sure why RIM wouldn't approve a "port scan" app for the store. It's not doing anything you couldn't freely do with any PC, and certainly doesn't compromise the security of the PlayBook and, as noted above, there's nothing stopping anyone from installing one on their own in development mode.
