Currently we're looking at the Treo 750. She doesn't want a phone that a lot of other people have, so blackberries are out (sadface). Anyone have any suggestions?

Why? That just doesn't make any sense. A lot of people have the same kinds of phones for a good reason, they are good phones. A ton of people have BB's, iphones, Touch Pro's because they are good phones. The only thing I can think of that is still a good phone but not hugely popular is th E71x. If I am not mistaken it doesn't go threaded texts by default but can be enabled without to much difficulty.
