Yes, pay the extra $200/year it's worth it to make you happy with your phone
-
No, just stick it out. That $200 is better in your pocket, plus you can upgrade your BB later on.
- Hi everyone,
I was hoping you could give me a little insight on a tough decision for me.
I have sprint, I am not leaving sprint.
I have a crazy good plan with them (not SERO).
I have an 8330, I am sick of blackberry, I want the Pre.
I am going to have to spend $210/year more in order to get the same plan I have now on my BB on the Pre. It's actually going to be 100 minutes less, but that doesn't really matter cause I wont ever go over anyways.
So my question is this...Would you spend $210/year to switch to the Pre or would you just deal with a blackberry you're not that happy with? I am starting to think it's better to just stick with the blackberry. I don't use it for business, so it's not saving me any $ but it's just a convenience factor mostly.
Thanks all!05-02-09 07:27 PMLike 0 - The Pre looks cool but I wouldn't spend that much more to get the same plan that your BB has now, esp. in this economy.
The Pre is also very new and may have lots of bugs and fixes that need to be made. Do you really want to be an early adopter? I mean, maybe that's for you, but I prefer to stick with what works.
Sprint is long overdue for a new BB so I don't think it's highly improbable that one will come out soon.05-02-09 08:06 PMLike 0 - Palm has been behind the ball for years now just trying to catch up. If you are dissatisfied with your BlackBerry, I do not think that Palm will place you in a better position. I actually switched to BlackBerry because of my difficulties with Palm.05-02-09 08:16 PMLike 0
- thanks guys, i think you're right. I might even make the move to winmo 7 if one comes out with a cap touchscreen w/physical keyboard. I really want something to be my mp3 player and cell phone in one.
toshiba K01 seems pretty sexy

That's what happened with me and the Sero plan due to the crapstinct (Instinct). Btw if you're in the US you're gonna be waiting forever for that Toshiba (and that's if it even comes here).05-04-09 02:50 PMLike 0 - If you don't end up liking the Pre you're gonna be pissed because now you permanently have a higher bill.

...That sucks to hear about the toshiba though . It seems like smartphones are moving so slowlyyy. The iphone seems to just make huge strides year over year whereas YOY with windows mobile and blackberry we hardly see any real innovation in both handsets and software.05-04-09 03:25 PMLike 0 - good point papped!

WM yeah, mostly because in the US all you get is regurgitated HTC releases ( and Motorola is practically dying). That and everything is banking on WM7 so 6.1 and 6.5 are more like micro updates than anything new...05-04-09 04:30 PMLike 0 - Not so much with Blackberry. The Storm + Storm 2 + Bold + Pluto all in a really small window. The software is kind of to be expected, because security and reliability is a huge, huge concern.

Worst of all, i have sprint - whose service i absolutely love but I can't stand how it takes forever for them to get any good devices, stupid CDMA.
BB does do what it does very well, i just feel like it's too limited for me at this point. I need something that will give me a nicer calendar, give me some real OTA syncing beyond what google sync gives me w/out BES, inline spell check, i dunno i feel like i could rant on forever about all it's lacking. And if I do i just get even more pissed off that Windows Mobile has everything that I want but it just sucks at delivering it with stability and in a nice device.
I really see why the iphone is flourishing now - and i really do see there being a big market for the Pre if it can get it's ducks in a row and it lets developers access some deeper API's.
If toshiba would wake up and push MS into getting some real work done on WinMo7 and drop a K01 that's slim, fast, and MS doesn't drop the ball - I think we'd all see a new leader. Problem is by the time that happens apple will be on it's 4th revision and if they felt like they needed to they could slap a keyboard on there and let apps run in the background with just a simple update.05-04-09 05:30 PMLike 0 -
Also the 8900, 85xx which I didn't mention that are out or out soon. RIM has had a serious amount of devices rolling out from last year to this year...

The problem with a lot of WM devices is even if they are cutting edge, odds are they release overseas and no carrier adopts them here for at least a year later.
Edit: also forgot the new pearl flip.Last edited by papped; 05-04-09 at 05:38 PM.
