Im moving to Australia for a year (Sydney) and I need some advise regarding carriers and a good plan.
I guess most plans are for two years with a phone.

Pay as you go / Refill can also be ok since I got an unlocked Z10.

    Any recommendations?

    Thank you!

I have made a call for help here from a couple friends from Down Under, but they are on a different timezone so it might be a while till we get a response.

if you're on STL 2 then it would be fine, I thought you'd be somewhere in the US or Canada with STL3 which won't work on some carriers.

    Optus Post Paid
My Plan Plus - Plan Only - Optus

    Optus pre paid
    Prepaid Plans - Optus

You can look at Telstra here Telstra - Pre-Paid Recharge Options

There are so many options, there are many carriers and MVNO's ...

If you plan to travel go with Telstra. They aren't the cheapest, but they have the best coverage by far. Every other provider will use the Vodafone or optus network. Vodafone is always failing.

I would recommend optus prepaid. Its cheap with decent coverage. 4g, unlimited texting, calling for 45

If you are staying in Sydney go with the cheapie option of:

    Telstra
    Optus
    Virgin Mobile
    Vodafone

If travelling around and out of major cities go Telstra for sure.

    Thank you all very much!

I did go with Telstra and the coverage is excellent so far.

I have one final question though.

Back home I was used to between 3-5GB plan per month. Now I have 400MB.
I can top up but it's pretty expensive.

    What do I do?
I think I saw an ad for Boost or something similar..

Welcome to Australia! In both ways I guess, we don't have massive plans over here. Did you go pre or post paid? Usually you can get a data pack top up for either.
Unfortunately though it's not going to be cheap.

    Thanks mate!
    Where are you located?

I did go for the pre paid 30$.
It's expensive so I need to research a bit more.

In near future I need to change to Boost:

    40$ for 2GB data - pre paid
