I don't know if there ever got any money or backing to pursue this. Maybe BofA gave them some small amount to "start-up", but I expect most of them are working on their own time... in the hopes that they would hit it big in some way. But I think this has been a side job for most of them.... I suspect none of them are laughing about their failure to launch.

I was wondering, given the current situation of mystery and total lack of communication from OM, what if the Editorial Head of Crackberry sent a formal request of information to OM? It could be an attempt to know some detail about the new device or its coming to the market. Further, if there was no response, Crackberry might warn that they will remove the "Onwardmobility" category from the forum, not having OM communicated any information about the new device since months. What do you think?

2021 is almost over! OM might want to delete their website. A shame no one can communicate.

Exactly, it has been or has become a side job for 'all' those people working there. When you look at the companies that Peter Franklin is currently involved in, it looks like none of those are pretty significant. At least not where it comes to being very active on social media for example. Which in most cases is not a good sign where it comes to a company being viable.

I think PC Mag makes an interesting point about their not being available for a statement or press interviews might be, as relates to their obviously not forthcoming phone, that there could be a legal component to their silence.

In February when they started announcing new hires etc and then suddenly went completely silent...something "legal" may have occurred.

And then the whole Adam NDA clownshow was such an attempt to buy time.

It all stinks. I am surprised they were able to close a deal for their software or whatever.

You mean like when all the CB forum members got the "personal" email canned generic responses? Meanwhile, Adam, a Trusted Member at CB got the runaround as well? What exactly and why exactly does OM have to respond?

If the folks at OM had something to say... they would have said it already. Before the specialty press started saying things about them, and before a YouTube started being "frustrated".

THEY DON'T HAVE ANYTHING TO SAY! Things have fallen apart after their backer pulled out, and they are unsure of how to move forward... it's that simple. Always a slight chance that the find another backer or investor, but today's market doesn't favor a small smartphone reseller...

Almost impossible to beat Apple, Google and Samsung on hardware and OS security, and most enterprise customers already have some sort of Management/End-Point security of their own. Which is where I couldn't see OM offering something "else" in the way of security that wasn't redundant.

That was the issue I saw with Somin, they were trying to build their own "SYSTEM" for management and security but Enterprise already has this well in hand. Which is why Walmart when with Samsung's XCOVER.... Good value for the hardware, years of software support and compatible with existing management solutions already in place. I bet Somin was bidding on the same contract and expected their BAR CODE scanners to give them an advantage....

I have no idea what they showed him but he obviously lacked the savvy to have called the obvious BS.

The last social media post they made was on LinkedIn over 3mo ago where they linked to an "interesting" video Adam had made. They're still trying to leverage his platform to maintain the whiff of something magic still coalescing in the shadows.

It's shameful and pathetic. Here's to hoping Adam says something soon to finally dismiss this entire dog and pony show.

I agree that linking to his video makes him an active participant in this from OM's perspective. I think they are now obligated to provide him with some clarity on this.

But linking to Adam when they themselves refuse to clarify is extremely poor form.

Not awkward for me at all. I put my money where my mouth is and publicly committed to donating one of these OM BlackBerry unicorn devices to Crackberry as a raffle prize in the event that OM comes through in 2021. I don't think it's awkward for anyone either, as most of the sentiment here has been that most everyone stated they would be very happy to be proven wrong.

Unfortunately for everyone, I think they won't be made happy and I think my money's safe. Five weeks to go, @howarmat did the August countdown to the AT&T "launch", maybe he can do the Christmas one too!
