Yep, this new phone is turning out to be a pure trade/culture dispute product trying to capitalize on paranoia and fear. McCarthy madness all over again. Lessons are rarely learned with history it seems. Only my opinion. Lay it on me.

"Flagship" can be defined in many, many ways. It doesn't really tell us anything.

The ship in your fleet that you put your flag on depends on what kind of fleet you have.

Columbus reportedly favored Nina. She wasn't the largest, nor the fastest. But became flagship for the second, ill fated, voyage. The lone survivor of 17 ships enduring the 1495 hurricane...

As with most all the BlackBerry folks out there, I am excited about a new product, but at this stage of the game, I am in a wait and see mode.

Happy to hear OM are making an effort to avoid direct participation in the repressive, aggressive systems of the PRC. A brave move towards integrity. Companies such as Apple have been sluggish to do so, at best.

It doesn't seem to be very smart to limit the release to North America and Europe... any market share in Asia means huge sales.

A tiny company can't afford to spread themselves too thin. There are also countless compliance issues that would have to be dealt with.

    But more costs as well...

Some of us expect this to be tied in with BlackBerry UME/Spark/Cylance... currently 75% of BlackBerry's revenue comes from NA, another 18% from Europe, Middle East and Africa. Leaving only 6% for SA, Asia, Australia, Pacifica and Antarctica.

But maybe it will have nothing to do with BlackBerry Subscription software... and as a small company they are just starting with a manageable market. If things go well, they'll expand.

It'll be thousands.... but no where near the volume that BBMo did. And that might be all they are planning for.
