BB10 is small ball to Google. They could afford to help BlackBerry? But why bother? They just agreed to perpetuate Android.

Why in the world would Google want BB10 to provide an inferior, slow and crappy access to Google Play apps?

"Android Runtime for BlackBerry 10 BlackBerry 10 will continue to support the current release of the Android Runtime (ART) and packaging tools to create a .bar file to submit to BlackBerry World. There are no plans to remove the Android Runtime from BlackBerry 10."
Still there but outdated and more and more apps will start to fail. If you use them.

One alternative for the Passport user who wanted Google Hangouts - try using the web version.

I do this occasionally on my Classic - it doesn't work very well there due to the small screen, but it might not be too bad on a Passport.

When phones become as powerful as a computer then the need and demand for apps will fall. You don't need apps on a computer you just bookmark the site

Except Web developers are notorious for poor mobile screen size experiences... why? Because historically mobile devices were slow and junky with mobile Web browsing. So, devs focused on native apps. Result? Mobile Web sucks. Result?

    Apps.

Sorry everyone, the Web browser is not going to cut it in 2015. Developers have mobile apps. These mobile apps are the focus.

Your theory of using the Web browser for everything was a good theory. But it's just not reality.

Website Apps arguably use less data since the construct of the app is all off-line data then they fill in the mold with live data which makes more sense for mobile use. they also are potentially more powerful since Web apps are limited to html/css/javascript.

If BlackBerry will support ART on my BB10 devices, I will be a happy camper. Just need a couple banking apps which will move eventually to use ART.

Sure I could use the Web, but the would mean I need to carry additional equipment...

However, if they decide to roll it out they are coming late to the party.

    Try HG10 in BB10.

I have no doubt BlackBerry asked Google.

If they had Google Services, and the Google Play store, then things might have been a bit different for the BlackBerry 10 devices. But alas.

Runtime was laggy enough. I can't imagine adding Google Services would have made for a better experience given the computing demand , at least on the Q10. It would take forever for an Android app to contact Amazon GameCircle.

Maybe the question should be about something BlackBerry can control like will the Priv get BB10 runtime so it can run BB10 apps.

This doesn't make sense. What apps do you need on BlackBerry App Store that aren't on Google Play Store?

From my understanding is that blackberry will not be updating the android runtime, so there is no chance of Google services coming to blackberry 10. Even Chen said in an interview that he would have preferred getting google services on BB10, but it seems that idea got shot down.

I'm just hoping for an all touch version of the Priv and then I'm ditching BB10. Otherwise I'll have to explore the options for leaving BlackBerry altogether.

Z30 is more than two years old with no upgrade even being discussed. And without an updated Android runtime there's not much point anyway.

Damien I agree! All the apps I bought on BlackBerry World were missing on my Priv, I took the Priv back because it was to big, and plus I was missing my BlackBerry Z10. A lot of apps that are on BW are not on the Play Store. You can't get Pooter Mobile Etc, I have Google Play Store ,Amazon App Store and 1 mobile market on my BlackBerry Z10 And I don't even use them, i only use BlackBerry World
    🔟✌.

I know it's a bit of a pipe dream but we never know what could be part of the deal BlackBerry struck up with Google. In return for helping to secure android and making android devices BlackBerry could be getting a updated android runtime and maybe Google services for BB10 devices. I'm hopping for at least an updated runtime.
