When Blackberry made exclusive with Telus for the first week, did Mr. Chen go to any Telus Stores and checkout where the Passport was exhibited?
I went to a TRUE Telus Store this weekend and it was properly exhibited next to the discontinued cell phone, way to go Telus for making the passport front and centre.

I'm not exactly sure what BlackBerry got when they gave TELUS the one week exclusivity.

I can tell you that, they got to display the Passport in a dark corner where no one goes.

I went to 3 stores and the passport was front and center, right in front of your face as soon as you walked in the door.

And all with real working models.

Mail Champlain in Brossard quebec. Passport has very little visibility and the unit is only a shell. The sale person had very little to say about it.

You are talking about a Telus Mobility Store not a BestBuy, Future Shop or independent store.

I went to 3 TELUS stores and they all had well placed fully functional demo units and dummy units as well.

I finally went and checked one at at Telus this past weekend. I was impressed that it was front and center as you walked into the store. Two sales people came to talk to me about it and seemed enthusiastic. I must say that I am much more impressed with the phone after having held and played with it.

I went to Telus to get a hands on experience of the phone since my carrier will be getting it this week.. but one thing I can say about Passport is that no matter where you put the phone, it has a personality of its own and stands out from the rest as long as they have a working phone, that is...

I went yesterday to check out the Passport at a Telus store in the mall (Lasalle, Qc), and it was displayed near the entrance and fully functional. I got to play with it for around 10 min. I was very impressed. It definitely stands out.

Why would they , Its a big secret that no one should know about the Passport.
If I had to get one I would order from Blackberry Store unlocked and without the crap that the carrier add.

I hear ya, but so that you know I bought mine from Telus and they didn't add a single thing. I had to manually download the Telus app.

The Telus dealer on Joseph Howe Drive in Halifax has a single Passport and it was locked inside a filing cabinet. There are other BlackBerry models on display, but only the Z30 was operational.

I'm pretty sure they did it because they thought it was a good business decision. Other than that I couldn't tell you

    2 things to consider:

A.) Telus stores are dealers and not corporate stores. They are independently owned and are essentially franchises.

B.) Rogers opted out on the Z30.

John Chen has proven he means business when you're not 100% on board. Who knows maybe there's some history with Bell too.

Here in northern BC and it was front and center at my store. I personally Bell and BlackBerry had a fallout.I think they promoted the first batch of bb10 phones poorly. Telus seems to have grabbed the passport to drive some of their business services business.

Telus have been good partners to BlackBerry. They carried the z30 from the beginning and have been aggressively pricing BlackBerry phones. It would not surprise me if BlackBerry was supporting them for their loyalty.

Telus seems to be the only carrier that supports blackberry to the fullest. The same thing happened when the Z-30 was released. Telus was the first to carry it. Now if Telus would just come up with a half decent plan besides the horrible ones they have now maybe they can gain some traction with the passport.
