saw this slogan on the BlackBerry Philippines website. They are cutting the price of the curve 9320, 9220 and the Z10.

The z10 was at PHP29,990 (around
    USD732) down to PHP19,990 (around
    USD488)
    The curve 9220, from PHP6,990
    (around USD170) down to PHP5,990
    (around USD 146)
    The curve 9320, from PHP8,990
    (around USD219) down to PHP7,990
    (around USD195)

Great. Need to get all of them in the hands of users. BB7 users can help bring in service fees as well, offsetting the lower handset price. BB10 needs as many people as possible to develop an ecosystem. Hopefully this moves some devices.

PHP10,000 is a HUGE savings. Hopefully this attracts more BB10 buyers. BB7 devices are still hot as pancakes here.

When the device is over priced to begin with a huge "saving" doesn't mean the price is right now

Of course they are. They should be free and blackberry should go bankrupt just to make you happy.

The Q5 is at PHP18,000+ if both are intended as mid-range phones, I think the z10 is just priced right.

Price will be lowered shortly I imagine. I don't think they can expect almost a billion dollars worth of Z10s to move at that rate.

    Like the Playbook.

I would have used "lowered" instead of "dropped."

There's still more room for lower prices... the Z10 is now around 280 EUR (~380 USD) here, it started back in March at around 630 EUR.

Somebody in Waterloo please wake up BB management. The fones are to expensive nobody is buying them. They have a stockpile of fones. Duh!!! Sell the fones at cost plus one dollar. Flood the market with cheap BB's. This will build a large user base and buy them time.

They are setting themselves up for failure with the Z30. Priced way to high. They need to remember only iSheep are willing to pay ridiculously high prices.

That's bad news. One would of thought that after all that has happened they would of dropped their standards and adopted higher ones.
    Explains Z30.

It looks like they're getting the message. However - I still think it makes sense for a brand that wants to target "prosumers" to have one premium device, with the accompanying price tag, and that's Z30. It makes sense when you consider their stated strategy now with Z10.

    WTF T_T I bought my Z10 for 29K off-contract (roughly 800$). Oh well =)).

But I'm still waiting for the Z30... I do hope Globe Telecom offers it. I'm gladly going to pay pre-termination (it came with a 9300 on that plan)

I find it weird that here in the PH, the bold 9900 is more expensive than the Z10.
