So the Z10, Q10 and Q5 are all incapable of using a feature that is included with BlackBerry 10.2 now? Basically, they're already obsolete. Nice!

The other devices will need a dock that is not even available.

Yep. Only the Z30 has the necessary hardware to do it natively. If the PlayBook had BB10, then it too would've been able to take advantage of it.

As it stands right now, the only BlackBerry 10 device with USB OTG host mode is the Z30.

In your signature you say you have a PlayBook and a Z10. Well, take a look at the USB port on each of those devices. Look closely and you will notice that they are slightly different. The PlayBook has a USB host port. The Z10, Q10 and Q5 do not. So all added up, that is two features of 10.2 that the Z10 is incapable of using - miracast and USB host mode.

What a shame. They spent all this time including USB support and miracast support in the 10.2 SDK and nobody will have a device to take advantage of it.

Let's be realistic. The market for 5" devices is freaking tiny. Couple that with the fact that the market for BlackBerry devices is tiny. Can't even target existing users, this is as good as dead. Such an incredible shame that this company failed because of incompetent management.

And before anyone says "lots of people have expressed interest in the Z30", remember, we're on Crackberry here. We are not the average smartphone users.

... I'm starting to be more and more thankful that I waited for the Z30 to launch instead of jumping on for the Z10... not that the Z10 isn't an amazing phone, friends and family who have it do love it, but.... yeah.

Well I mean, it's always going to be like this, new phones brings new features. I guess since we are talking about BlackBerry here they should've added all features known to humanity + 5 light years ahead on the Z10 otherwise it's unacceptable. Not a feature I need personally, so much cloud storage available anyways.

The most pathetic part of it all is it probably would have cost around 7 cents per unit to equip all BB10 devices with the required hardware to use USB OTG host mode.

The PlayBook had the port, so obviously they knew it existed. They just didn't care. Lol BlackBerry loves to abuse their early adopters. Every existing BB10 user got screwed. USB host mode is a great feature to have.

Another feature of 10.2 the z10 can't use. EOL'd already

I'm sure we'll hear how no one wants that feature and it doesn't matter though...

Oh stop whining, every time new releases came up with features people complain. It doesn't even make sense. And then when they don't, people complain as well. Of course they have to keep upgrading even at the expense of opportunity costs of users with older devices.

May be someone should try to connect powered USB device, i.e. in this case phone does not supply power to the device.

Yes, it is a hardware feature that cost pennies to add and was included in the PlayBook. How old is the PlayBook again?

There really is no excusing it. Bottom line, the Z10 is already missing out on two features of 10.2 and now the Q10 and Q5 is missing out on one. Sucks to be an early adopter for BB.

I have tried it with my Dev Alpha C running 10.2 and it doesn't work. I don't believe the leaked software would have the feature in the first place. So that might change in the future.

I use a powered USB host cable set up with my Nexus 4 nearly everyday. Such a useful feature.

The market for bbry is tiny, the market for a 5" bbry is even tinier. Has nothing to do with Apple, and can't for the life of me figure why that is the fall back argument
