A frequent knock on BB has been that TAT showed all kinds of cool, zoomy demos, but little of it was ever actually delivered. Maybe TAT couldn't actually make their concepts usable in the real world, and BB management lost patience, hmmm?
I think a more plausible explanation is that TAT's demo's and ideas actually required decent hardware to run (as does most graphic intense software)..which BBRY didn't release til 2013..and even then..it was bare minimum.

BlackBerry is not Apple, who made their Lead Designer the face of the company.

BlackBerry is about Development and the TAT Cascades, now BlackBerry, team are in full flow. Obviously none of the posters in here saw the Asia Jam Presentations.

Cascades is the entire UI framework of BB10. All of the native buttons, controls, containers. The built in behaviors, animations, transitions. That's all TAT's work.
It's almost as if some suit at the board table asked TAT to dumb down the eye candy a bit. I find the UI somewhat bland and unimaginative. It's certainly functional but it lacks richness.

So, it is good that highly skilled creative people are leaving BlackBerry. Thor can claim more cost savings.

And it's absolutely crap if you ask me, and it's completely inconsistent, some swipes work in one part of the OS, some don't etc.

My personal annoyance, especially on the Q10 vs Z10 is the long press menu. Give me full screen of options not a small strip on the side and on the Q10 only holds a few options, for the rest you have to press the overflow button.

The icons make no sense either, I always have to look hard at them, no instant recognition there.

That may not be a fair characterization. As I and others have noted already, Cascades makes extensive use of TAT's UI design. As far as I'm concerned, they got great value, too, because the visual appeal of BB10 comes from their work.

With the basic OS done, and the UI basically fixed in place for a couple of years, there really wouldn't be a ton of high-level design work. It doesn't inevitably have to reflect badly on BB that these guys left to form a startup. It happens elsewhere.
While some of BlackBerry 10 was helped by TAT. the video and picture displays are in major need of help.
Sorry. But there is much more TAT could of done but the stuff shirts wouldn't let them.

Scrapbook was an App to show developers that they can make such high quality apps on BlackBerry 10..

TAT does not make apps, they make tools that make the apps.

The developers are sleeping, they haven't been able to even get close to the simple Sample achievements of TAT..

95%? Where's that number come from. We know their leader left, and now more. How many were there during the construction of the Playbook (RIP) and BB10 UI?

Everyone has or is bailing ship. It's better to make your resume and get a new job before the errors of the company you worked for are fully exposed.
Um...I think you mean abandoning ship! "Bailing" on a ship means you are using buckets to remove water that's coming in. Although I'm sure anyone still at Blackberry is probably bailing as well in an attempt to keep it afloat.
