More fuel for the rumour mill.

Rumour: BlackBerry and Samsung to release smartphone with Android Lollipop and BlackBerry services later this year | TalkAndroid.com

Last weeks rumour that BlackBerry was*considering*the idea of using the Android operating system for an upcoming smartphone might not be so far-fetched after all, at least according to a tweet from*Eldar Murtazin.

As you can see from the tweet above, he alludes to a joint venture between Samsung and Blackberry, with the device running Android Lollipop and having BlackBerry services baked in. This joint venture is believed to be released later this year.

. This joint venture is believed to be released later this year.

After rumours of*both*Samsung*and*Microsoft*making offers to buy the Canadian company, it seems that BlackBerry has chosen instead to strengthen its ties with Samsung. Firstly by*teaming up*to*improve Knox*security on Android and now apparently with an upcoming device running Android firmware with BlackBerry services baked in. It has to be said that BlackBerry arent in a great position financially, barely holding on to a 1% share of the smartphone market and having to*cut jobs.

Blackberry, GE, Cisco and AT&T are digging themselves into IOT. BlackBerry secure end point may be the gateway to the mobile iot world. Making blackberry the gate keepers. Other mobile players may have no choice but to pay the gatekeeper to have access to the iot system.

It would make sense that BlackBerry just supply services and let Samsung sort out hardware and distribution

Well, these are, at the very least, interesting times for us BlackBerry fans.

I hope moves like this allow BlackBerry to continue to develop bb10, but I sincerely have my doubts that is on the company's long-term plan. Who knows, though? A lot can happen in the tech world within a year or two.

I don't know that Blackberry services would be "baked in", so much as Samsung may be simply agreeing to install BB apps and services as a default. Which may or may not go over well with the "purchasing public", as it could possibly be construed as just yet more bloatware.

Well the way I read this is that samsung is launching a new Android device with the BlackBerry suite that Chen spoke about built in!

It's a new samsung phone helping in the launch of the BlackBerry suite, not an android BlackBerry phone.

    Let's wait and see

Ps. I think the slider is a samsung branded phone running Android and BlackBerry services suite.

Before people ask, NO, this is not in violation of OHA because it would be a Samsung branded phone (not a BB one) running Android. Just like the latest Samsung S6 also had microsoft services installed alongside Google ones, there is no restriction on preinstalled apps as long as the google one are also there.

I find it hard to believe that samsung would let BB show a prototype that would ultimately be branded with there name.

The more and more I read about this, the more i`m liking the idea of it.

TechnoBuffalo also seems to have some really positive things to say about it. It`s a nice change from tech blogs bashing everything BlackBerry.

BlackBerry said to tap Samsung for Android phone

I'd buy an Android BlackBerry right now

They don't have to sell tens of millions, they have to sell 2x what they're selling now and it's a success. That's a very realistic goal and a easy bet to make.

Really? Because go open an image on your BlackBerry and see if you can notice the "logo" or WiFi signal at the top. Would you like me show you that iOS9 is "running" on my BlackBerry Z10?
