What's the use of carrying the old ones if you're not going to carry the newest one? That means your best Blackberry customers hear about the new one and go to your store and find out they can't upgrade. If they're not carrying the Z30 then they are probably going to wind down all of the Blackberry products.
So far all we know is that they won't stock the Z30, right?

They could still stock the Q10. They could still stock the BB7 devices which clearly outsell the BB10 devices by a big margin. So I think it's premature to say this is Rogers giving up on BlackBerry all together.

What I really want to know is if it is true that they will not carry the Z30, will they continue to support the OS for all current customers that have BB10 phones? My understanding is that they are delivering the 10.2 update by the end of October, but my bigger concern is what about 10.3 etc? I may have to reconsider my seven years of loyalty to Rogers if they phase out support.

I would like to take this moment to swiftly rebuke you. Rogers will not be carrying the z30

If this is TRUE or not, there are far to many stories similiar to this concerning BlackBerry and carriers. Unfortunatly, it is what it is, I personally don't mind shopping online for SMARTPHONES, because I do research and always know more than the sales rep anyway ....A lot more

Rogers is probably still trying to liquidate them. Simply being on shelves does not imply Rogers will order more.

Based on the large Z10 writedown, few carriers worldwide are likely reordering. The channel is very stuffed.

If you think this is just a rogers thing you are wrong. It's an emerging trend that started with t mobile and will continue. Sad as my carrier is rogers and I wanted to look at it.

You can still go to a Best Buy or FutureShop and have a look at it.

How comes telus and bell didn't go along with Rogers and not sell it? I wonder if BlackBerry will keep sponsering Blue Jays.

Never liked Rogers. They probably wanted exclusivity of the white Z30 again. Keep moving BlackBerry!!!!

Well, today's announcement lists Bell, Telus, etc as carrying the device. However, I wouldn't doubt more carriers moving to the online sales only model. My concern as a Rogers customer is ongoing support; if they phase out support for BB10, they'll lose a mobile customer, and maybe highspeed internet and HDTV as well.

No wonder they launched the Z30 in Kuala Lumpur. Launching at home would have been awkward.

Remember that guy that said he got a message from Rogers saying they won't be giving updates and will not be support the BlackBerry Z10 anymore?

Well, it might not be true, but it was likely based on someone who knew that Rogers was going to stop releasing new phones, and so they assumed there would be no more support for the old phones.
That doesn't sound so crazy anymore, does it?

Not surprised in the least bit at the news. What I am surprised is that people still buy phones at physical stores.

there's more to the story here.. I think this might have something to do with Blackberry and their sponsorship of the Blue Jays not being renewed, the Blue Jays being owned by Rogers of course.
Rogers and Blackberry have had such a long relationship, but something has gone sour here...
