Why can't blackberry just tell us when the official release day will be so we wont be left in suspense ?!?!
or is it that they don't know themselves ?

Because the OS is in development. They are still getting feedback from the OTA installs on its gold release candidates.

Wrong.. right.. doesn't matter really. Everyone seems to be forgetting the key thing which is that it's still up to carriers to push it out. There's a 98% chance the date is accurate based on the fact BlackBerry has said all along it will be in February, add in the fact there's a meeting on the 18th with elites to discuss it and it starts adding up.

All in all, BlackBerry 'officially announcing' it means nothing to when it will actually land on devices. That's still part of the waiting game... if announced on the 19th, it's just BlackBerry making it official, just as before with EVERY SINGLE OTHER OS UPDATE, that doesn't mean it's going to be available to everyone on the 19th.

^^ 10.1 had people waiting, 10.2 had people waiting, 10.2.1 had people waiting and 10.3.1 will have people waiting as well.^^

Everyone seems to forget that part because you know, it's probably the most vital part that matters. Who needs to pay attention to that? lol. We've got at least another month or two of 'Where is my BlackBerry 10.3.1 update!!' because of those oh so tricky words 'Starting today....' and 'Subject to carrier approvals'.
Well I'm using a device direct from BlackBerry that isn't tied to a carrier, so the carrier roll out doesn't affect me...right? Aren't a vast number of people and probably even a majority at this point on non-carrier issued BB10 devices?

Now that we know when 10.3.1 will be arriving, anyone heard when 10.4.1 will be released?
Excuse me but it's 10.4.1.7.8.2 4.1456. Everyone knows that's as it was already proclaimed on N4BB.

I wish this were true, but as soon as you activate your SIM, your device usually gets tied to your carrier.

Wait this just got a whole lot more confusing for me lol. I use my Q10 on Tmobile, so what happens and how do I get the update when it comes out? it's completely unlocked so it's not like it's tmo branded or anything.

a person could use various sim cards because of travel. Would their Passport be "locked" to the first sim card they put in to the phone? If so, what if it was from a carrier that doesn't offer the Passport. I believe many of us bought the Passport direct from BB or Amazon to avoid being held hostage by carriers such as AT&T. For me I have decided to follow the flow of the leaks and rely on them and not on AT&T. I have a Chinese sim card from traveling overseas, if I put that in when the updates are being released on the 19th or 29th or whatever, will it receive a OTA from BB?

This all stems from a blog post to DEVELOPERS in May, NOT TO END USERS. Developers were being given a time line so that they can have their apps ready. If GM told its parts supplier that they need something for a car being made by the end of the year, this hardly qualifies as a commitment to the general public on whether or not they will have a car ready for them to drive.

    Z30STA100-5/10.3.1.2267
    Wrong!!!

Chen said before the world on 24 Sep 2014 that Passport and Classic would be available on AT&T in the US by end of 2014 with 10.3.1 available to older devices just after.

Would you people PLEASE quit saying it isn't so. Your constant defense of missed targets again and again and again and again is why BlackBerry think they can keep getting away with it!

The advantage is the it will be treated as carrier independent unlocked . If anything goes carrier specific , by inserting that carrier sim, update can be received.

"Just after" does not sound like a firm date to me, and is open to a great deal of interpretation.

    You are missing the point.

BlackBerry have already missed every milestone leading up to 10.3.1. They clearly stated those milestones (Passport and Classic release... which STILL haven't happened on AT&T in US as promised) would happen first... and they've missed those targets... so the later milestones are of course delayed too.

The milestone with AT&T is out of BlackBerry control. They wanted a redesign of the Passport among other things. BlackBerry has made the Classic available, and it is AT&T dragging its fleet. Just ask Telus, Bell, and Rogers who are selling it now.

It is Johnny Chen's complete lack of ability with carrier relations... nothing else... that is preventing Passport from thriving in the US.

The worst part is, he doesn't even care!

    Except that it's all related.

It's just that some keep making excuse after excuse after excuse for delay after delay after delay.

I may say, we all just have to wait, whether the official 10.3.1 will be on 19th of this month or not. Delayed or not. That's all we can do, to wait.

It's not a 100% guarantee. Some people have luck swapping SIM's for one that has released the update and others' not so much. There is no 100% sure fire way to get it other than simply downloading the update directly from the servers and using Sachesi to update, which obviously is not ideal for everyone.
