I have to say I'm inclined to agree here.

"After all, he's often called the "Warren Buffett of Canada" given his penchant for making the most of beaten-down assets -- and its no mystery I respect Mr. Buffett -- so I was inclined to take Watsa seriously when he defended his bid last week, saying:

"We've got a track record of 28 years of completing what we've done. We've never renegotiated. We thought long and hard before we offered $9 dollars a share and we're not in the business of offering a number and at the last minute changing the figure. Over 28 years our reputation is stellar on that front. We just don't do that."

He better change the figure upwards. What a shame if it was actually sold for a bargain basement price of $9 per share.

I don't see it going for $9. Very few shareholders that post online are voting yes.

We will see after due diligence is done. I don't think the $9 offer will stand; $7-7.50 maybe.

If the market believed that the majority would vote no and that it was priced too low, the share price would be higher than it is today. Unfortunately this is not the case and if anything, IMO, the $9 offer is preventing the share price from going considerably lower with all the recent news.

I think they have the votes they need from within the company already.

I don't see any upside for investors who vote no based on the current trading price and what will likely occur if the deal doesn't go through... they might be lucky to get $7...

No he doesn't. Without knowing who is in his consortium, the top shareholders (holding ~1% and above) , is less than 25%. Counting investment funds, it's not much over 30%. There's a good chance that this offer could be rejected by a majority of shareholders if there isn't another bid.

As long as $9 bid go through shorts will have to cover and it will take it higher OR price will go down to $6, bid of 9 with short covering will take it to 9. Pw and shorts win, longs lose

If the trend of hovering around 8$ continue, the deal will probably not move. They won't pay more than what's needed, and since the stock stand still for now, it means shareholders are not buying or selling, just waiting for their 9$ per share. So even if a bunch are unsatisfied, I think shorts will just accept, take the loss and move on.

Haha yeah, isn't it funny how no one seemed to give a sh1t about BlackBerry anymore until a couple of weeks ago?

Now it's all anyone can talk about. Looks like people probably care more about them than they themselves realized.
