    They don't want to stay the map imaging data collection business ala Google as its not a core part of the business. They'll pay another partner for that perhaps the old Nokia with HERE.

    Remember a few years back when Apple broke up with Google and launched their half baked maps, putting people's homes in the middle of lakes and having crazy bad instructions?

    Not sure whether Microsoft really needs to be that skinny. Nadella is different, though.

    So buying the services (or selling and using on a paid/shared basis) instead of running them yourself... how much control are you really giving up, that's the question. :-)
