If you guys haven't heard... since Crackberry are busy with watches and whatnot... but Blackberry just lost another major executive in the form of VP of Sales James Novak.

    According to his Twitter account

So what, what's the big deal??

It may be so that he got good opportunities somewhere else or he knew He was the next target For Chen's #FireHammer.Basically the good thing for him was to Quit rather than to be harassed & fired.

There are going to be lots of changes. That's to be expected. The old guard were responsible for driving BlackBerry into the ground. Obviously many of them are going to be replaced. Many of them are going to want to look for other opportunities.

I like your approach towards the CB app development, but I can't help but think maybe you could be a bit more ambitious with a community/crowdsourced project. If you can generate enough interest, instead of a CB app, perhaps it could be a Mobile Nations app that works with all MN sites. Instead of 5 site specific apps that may potentially need 5 builds each, you could do 1 app for each platform to accommodate them all.

This is on the roadmap that we're developing with our in-house app dev. First we still have to get forums functionality into our iOS app. Once done there will be iPhone and iPad apps for all the sites. Then next up is the "Mobile Nations" app that will have everything in it.

Damn CrackBerry.. because of this missing news I lost the occasion to send out my resume for the position...!!! lol

Seriously guys this is NO news.. you do not want an article for every person moving to other companies or hired by BlackBerry for that matter.. we would have 10 posts a day just for that.

Ah and by the way I am pretty sure that if the news has been posted someone would have complained about CB writing a negative article on BlackBerry and not being anymore a fan site.....

Do like a kick starter for it, I would totally pay money to get the app before everyone else. Or someone how make it someone special about it like a * or something beside your forum name to let people know you helped with kickstarter

Raised eyebrow, Adam: VP of sales of BlackBerry leaving not big enough to post? If there was a photon shortage and you had to choose between posting that and a $30 bluetooth speaker giveaway, maybe: but if you're saying that CrackBerry had the resources to post it and chose not to? That seems to be an odd editorial choice for CrackBerry, but it is yours (CB editors) to make.

People are getting his title /role wrong (probably because blogs that reported it screwed it up) he was only VP of Sales for the Verizon Business Unit - that's one retail channel. He wasn't this super high up guy that had a giant effect on BB sales (no offense to him). Hence why it didn't make the front page.

Plus, he only held that role for the last 2 years or so. He's had a handful of other positions in his tenure at BlackBerry over the years.

VP of sales of BlackBerry <-- for one carrier
f.y.i.the < char breaks post editing in the CB10 app

I interpret this as CB editors not believing this newsworthy.

Personally, I don't follow the personnel changes all that much, but this particular one might indicate that... something is afoot with what many have considered the most important carrier relationship BlackBerry has (possibly Rogers is up for that "honour").

VP working with the single USA carrier seeiming to give any kind of care about BlackBerry.

We go on and on and on here in these forums on how BlackBerry dropped the ball in the USA and the guy working with the one carrier who actually seems to want to carry BlackBerry devices is unimportant - nothing to see here, just more stupidity I guess...

What if the guy simply got offered a better paying job, with a more reasonable life balance, working with some old friends? It happens you know?

People are so quick to get melodramatic around here

If I`m mistaken isn`t this the same carrier I have seen multiple threads people complaining about how they don`t carry the Z30 in a lot of stores or the reps are ignorant of BlackBerry? If that is the case, this James Novak was not doing his job I suppose.

Perhaps the funniest thing about all this is that people have spent more time questioning as to why it wasn't posted than actually discussing why he's no longer there, what the outcome may be, who if anyone may take the role, etc etc but whatever lol.

This thread is funny. Clearly, some people spend way too much time on the internet and need to get a life. Somebody criticizes BBRY, they are up in arms; someone leaves BBRY, those CBers are in knots because the site does not report it. Like, really?

I think if they did post it you would get a lot of comments saying "Who?" It makes more sense for them to post on huge departures because were going to see a lot of people leaving with the restructuring of BB and/or people just moving on to other things.

This thread is so amazing I just liked and thanked every person and every post on it.

    1) I think compared to most sites out there for other mobile platforms (even our other sites like Android Central, iMore and WPCentral) we actually over report on departures on CrackBerry compared to them. Other sites tend to do it only for MAJOR people departures or shifts. In the case of BlackBerry where things have been more challenging the last couple yeras, we have seen way more departures get reported than you would normally see because guys like Will Connors at WSJ seem to make it their mission to report on them (I swear he must get a bonus for writing those posts up) - and sometimes they report on ones that just are not that important overall to the company. But then it starts to set an expectation to report on them all. But really, this isn't news. Watch Linkedin - people are moving every day in the tech space between companies, or leaving for their own startups, etc. And it's not just BB that loses people. Facebooks, Googles and Twitters and Apples do too.

I'm sure James Novak is a great guy, but dudes.. he was NOT a "major" executive from a BlackBerry perspective. He was the VP of Sales for the Verizon BlackBerry Account. A Channel Account manager. Again, great guy I'm sure, but not steering the BlackBerry strategic ship. Not something to report on. Remember, a company like BlackBerry probably has HUNDREDS of VPs. Until you get to the absolute top 10 people in the company, titles like VP, etc. below that are significant for pay scale. You can't take the title as meaning "OMG THIS PERSON LEFT THE COMPANY IS SCREWED."

Bla1ze and Adam already said it, it's not our goal to cover every BB departure. Most "normal" BlackBerry owners don't care, and the ones that do care can still freely talk about it here in the forums, where the topic came up. Just don't go thinking that means we're not reporting on stuff and that we're not doing our jobs. We're doing our jobs by not blogging it up.

    2) In regards to the comment about the CB10 call for App Developers, I'm really amused at some of the stupidity that has been shown in response to that blog post. I wrote an update to the post today to further clarify things:

Are you an awesome BlackBerry 10 developer and want to make the CB10 app better? If yes, read this! [Updated] | CrackBerry.com

May 2nd Update - We've already had a few developers reach out which is great to see! Scrolling through the comments this morning, I just wanted to address a few of the things I've been reading: - The notion to get developers from the community participating on a volunteer basis was suggested by developers who just wanted to help pitch in - this isn't CrackBerry looking for a hand out. As there is more than one developer wanting to help out, we needed a method for working with multiple devs handling the code where we can still ensure the overall quality of what's being submitted to BlackBerry World, which is why we're taking the GitHub private repository method. - I never said in the post that we're not also willing to compensate developers for their time and contributions. With a community project like this, we're looking for developers who are passionate about the project (making the CB10 app better!) and not just about making money first. That's how great communities work - look at all the awesome moderators and ambassadors we have on the team who volunteer lots of time to help make CrackBerry a better place. Most of the people who "work" for Mobile Nations today (even Adam and Bla1ze, Dan Rubino, Rene Ritchie, Phil Nickinson and many, many more) started out as volunteers on the site first. Heck, Windows Phone Central's awesome app was also made by a volunteer developer. Then when we see awesome passionate people in the community doing great things, we promote from there. I know at least some of the devs who have read this post and applied recognize the potential of getting involved.

    3) As for a few other comments I want to leave in regards to some of the things mentioned in this post, I'll hold off on for now. Going to do a nice write up soon that addresses things proactively. Clearly some further education is needed.

    LOVE YOU ALL!
But...but...righteous outrage! How can people complain about you when you respond all reasonable like? You're supposed to be too busy suckling the Apple teat! God Kevin, you can't even let people attack you right!

    Lol

I feel like there is more crack then berry on the site. I think after the failure of torsten who was a good friend to blackberry they seem to be trying to distance themselves from the site. Even going so far as to having others cover blackberry news. Hence the search for new reporters. i think maybe the fight has gone out of many at the crackberry team. I cant say i blame them but its a shame to bail now when the forum groups are really the only ones keeping blackberry afloat. lets hope they are just taking a minor break in the action. I just dont see much in the way of news, leaks or even rumours for that matter. maybe since the leaks are stopping so are the rumours that give crackberry the lead on new things so if they dont have the advantage of good sources within anymore it makes it that much more difficult to find out anything. Perhaps blackberry themselves are making it more difficult as well. We will see it takes time to see what is really going on. Kevin you might want to come on back and give your side of things. I always want to hear it from the horses mouth.
