I was so confused when I read this. As far as I'm aware BlackBerry claims it has been trying to persuade Instagram to make a BlackBerry 10 app with no success. But according to this article the Instagram CEO wants the app, ?on every platform, on every kind of phone and tablet and wearables.?

    Thoughts?

Instagram is a highly specialised app which let's you upload a picture on the Internet.

Instagram has limited knowledge on multi-platform development and they are trying their best to get it on all platforms.

Last news was that BlackBerry was giving some free Tuitions to Instagram Developers..

But he also said no app is coming any time soon. So why the contradiction? He says Instagram isn't coming to BlackBerry 10 or WP8 any time soon, and later says he wants it on all platforms. If he wants it on all platforms why aren't their apps coming anytime soon? BlackBerry has reached out and offered to help them bring it over and they resist. Mixed messages?

Well if they don't know how to, then how can they?

Perhaps after the Free tuition that BlackBerry is offering, then it can be fast tracked.

Maybe he means he wants everything besides iOS and Android to die off. There's more than one way to skin a cat you know.

Kevin (IG CEO) just want to identify where his users are first, seems like there were high demands of it on WP and BlackBerry, his team surely will give permissions for MS and BlackBerry Limited to make their own Instagram app. Just look at Facebook Inc, they'd only built their app for two major platforms, iOS and Android because it's worth of doing it, while for WP and BB10, they only gave permissions of developing it and that's why our Facebook for BB10 made by BlackBerry Limited. Same case goes to WP, their Facebook app made by Microsoft Corp. Both not were developed by Facebook Inc itself. But the Facebook app on those two platforms (WP and BB10) are still categorized as native.

I related these two major app because Facebook Inc itself has owned Instagram. So, the way it flow might be the same. Anyway, I can be wrong.

They must be testing the waters if BB10 would stay? With the plethora of bad news going around, they might be holding off 'till they're sure BB would still exist? Or they could be just trying to bask in the glory of the OSes begging them while they still can.

I dont think that's a threat to them, I'm sure they could kill iGrann whenever they want making little chances that break it.

I figured just like the FaceBook app, BlackBerry is just waiting for permission and would develop the app itself. But seems as though they can't even get permission! What about that leaked Instagram in Hub pic? Maybe they're holding off an announcement until 10.2 launches? Might need 10.2 to run?

something wrong with your argument, what about WP, MS don't go anywhere and wp users are still waiting for a official IG app

It's clear that IG's CEO is looking for a marketshare percentage before he commits to a platform, and that neither BB10 nor WP have met that threshold yet. IMO, they'll make a WP client in 2014, but I seriously doubt you'll ever see one for BB10, given BB10's sub-1% of the marketplace (and falling).

But the IG CEO just said he wants to be on every platform. Didn't say he's waiting for a threshold.

Ah yes. Thanks for that. I completely forgot about WP.
Maybe they don't want to seem too eager? Or could be an ego thing. The last article I read (the one posted here on CB) said something about them taking a long time to get to android. The message I was getting was "why would we come sooner on BB?" At least that's how it felt to me. That reasoning doesn't make much sense though.

Omg..bb10 market share is not falling, it's growing slowly. BBOS market share is falling...

Of course he wants on it all platforms. Doesn't mean that it's worth his/Instagram's time or resources to develop and maintain for each platform.

Exactly. I'm sure he'd also like to get paid $500 million a year, but without a business justification, it's not going to happen, regardless of "want."

Yet in this case, BBRY did build it, and not enough came.
