As usual, only half right. In fact, maybe not even half. No mention of the strategy to go forward with Android devices. And can anyone confirm or deny some of the claims made here re: backdoor access to certain countries?

BlackBerry Killing Off Classic Phone As It Moves Away From Handhelds

The backdoor access stuff is the stuff people have been yammering on about since like 2007 in regards to lawful access and most recently the Canadian RCMP. People say BlackBerry has a backdoor, BlackBerry insists they do not but comply with lawful access when and where possible. It's a tit-for-tat game which likely will never get a real answer. You just have to decide who you believe the most to come to a conclusion. Yet, it'll be debated for as long as BlackBerry continues to exist.

It was on national CTV news this morning, got Dan Bader of Mobile Nations to talk about it. I wonder why they didn't get Bla1ze.

I wonder how everyone missed Chen announcing this three months ago? Back at the previous earning call Chen said the Classic was out of production due to issues with obtaining the older memory that the Classic uses (just an excuses).

But at this point I guess it is becoming more real as Carrier's and some Customers are now saying it's a real thing.

And yes... there are articles out there filled with all sorts of misinformation.

What's with the reporting on this lol? So many inaccuracies. A BB10 phone is no longer being produced after 1.5 years, OMG the sky is falling, BB is done!

This article incorrectly states the BlackBerry Classic was "an iconic cell phone that was a popular choice among consumers before the touchscreen smartphone, and known for its iconic QWERTY keyboard." http://finance.yahoo.com/news/blackb...201508710.html

    And this article: http://www.nytimes.com/2016/07/06/te...hone.html?_r=0

    NY Times corrections:
    Correction: July 5, 2016
Because of an editing error, an earlier version of this article erroneously attributed a distinction to the BlackBerry Classic smartphone, which BlackBerry announced it would discontinue. It is the last BlackBerry phone with the traditional physical keyboard that dominates the face of the phone. It is not the last BlackBerry model with a physical keyboard. The error was repeated in the headline.

    Correction: July 6, 2016
An earlier version of a summary of this article online misstated the name of the model, introduced in 2014, that is being discontinued. It is the BlackBerry Classic, not BlackBerry 10.

There ya go, kids. Even the NY Times blindly repeats other people's bad reporting, at first.

To be perfectly honest, Daniel is more well-spoken on camera than I am and he has more media experience plus, his locale (Toronto) makes it more convenient for him to appear.

Because people don't care about BlackBerry unless there's something terrible to say. While I'm not all tinfoil hat about it, there's certainly a media bias when it comes to BlackBerry. In fact, it has gotten worse with the release of Priv.

People love a good underdog story, but they love to see the arrogant & powerful fall.

Doesn't get much more arrogant that releasing some "privileged" phone made of plasitc for $740, and then blaming the "market". Meanwhile Samsung released the S7 (same time as the PRIV got released by Verizon) and it's selling great

Needed to be no more than $600, tops and BB should've treated it more as a loss leader being their first Android foray.
