I hope this post is rightly placed.

This is just a heads up for those of you who may use Microsoft's cloud storage OneDrive. I just received an email that effective July 27, 2016 the limit will be reduced from 15G to 5G.

Yeah the way I read some news reports on it, existing users could keep the 15GB, the 5GB only affects new users.

My issue is I had an Office 365 subscription that ran out three months ago... if was free with my Tablet, and I didn't want to pay the $69 upgrade. So I knew I'd lose my 1 TB of storage.... well they did drop it, but I currently have 130 GB with 122 GB available.

So who knows what July 27, 2016 will do to me?

I did not realize that there was an opt out clause. I will have to check into it.

It's an auto-renew subscription so at the end of the year if you don't cancel then you will automatically be signed up for the next year.

No. You're not able to opt out of the downgrade. The window for doing so was the end of January.

    Not any more you can't.

The option to keep 15GB expired end of January. MS didn't publicise it widely.

If you didn't register to keep the 15GB at the time, you've lost the chance.

Oh, that sucks. Ya know, for everyone else, because I totally opted out back then.

    .
    Yup, so did I.

But only because I saw a "Register" article on it. MS didn't exactly shout this from the rooftops, and I suspect a lot of people are going to have lost 2/3rds of their storage about now and will be cussing MS.

Everyone is offering 5gig free so if MS what's me to stay then they need to offer a little more or i'll just stick with Dropbox.

    5 gig isn't adequate in 2016...

It allows for nothing more than quickly shifting files from one device to another. Work enabling, but storage?

I see that 15GB is borderline good enough for most and won't cause a lot of people to subscribe. The aim is to get you onto O365 and 1TB.... :-)

If you got the 30GB when you installed the BB10 OneDrive app, you probably get to keep it. I capitulated and got the Office 365 subscription, so I don't have to worry about storage.

My problem is I don't know how I got what I have know....Been on OneDrive for a long time (joined back in the SKY days). Last year I bought a tablet with free Office 365 and got the 1TB, but the subscription expired and now it's down to 130 GB which is still pretty good for free. Hopefully they'll just remove 10GB.....
