Qualcomm would be so nice. Especially if BlackBerry would get first dibs on their tech. Mirasol display a high end BB10 phone with best snapdragon chip.

This would open up so many avenues for BlackBerry.

After this starts to sink in, I think you are probably spot on. If this pans out like you foresee, its indeed a super development for BlackBerry.

Although it's still a huge longshot, this is the only viable storyline that has emerged which involves the survival of BBRY as a handset maker.

Cerberus has shown that they're not afraid to extract value in any way possible, and that includes a breakup, but if (huge 'if') Laziridis is actually involved with this troika, they might see a Phoenix-like rise from the ashes as a viable play.

Still almost certain that BBRY will cease to exist as a handset maker, but....

cerebus usually buy companies and break them up it seems so I really don't see why they would want a joint bid with the cofounders that are obviously looking for a turnaround.

So what if it was because Qualcomm didn't develop the chip in enough time for BlackBerry 10 to be released early?

What does that have to do with Mike doing business on a separate matter now?

Qualcomm already dominate the wireless chipsets of most android handsets (as well as bb10 devices). This involvement would see qc acquire the patents of BBRY's wireless group and no doubt the closure of that group (400 jobs). I very much doubt that qc has any interest in marketing a phone so they are effectively purchasing a segment of BBRY breakup.

I'm starting to think that maybe Thor was primarily brought in to push things along and be the "hatchet man" to get BB ready for the next phase of ownership. Now that q5/10, z10/30, and that other os7/9xxx something-or-another is out the door and 1000's layed off he and his team are silently retreated waiting for their severence nest egg and the next owners to take control.

I don't want to see this company fizzle. I have been a fan of Blackberry for a long time and thoroughly enjy there product over all others. Prove the future to the rest of t he platforms Blackberry Do this SELL right!!

    1. Cerberus&Mike&co make it!
    2. 10.3
    3. 2nd Generation of Z10&30 with quad-core support...

Actually i have a lot more wishes about BlackBerry... but this three would be enough for first...

A Qualcomm/Lazaridis tandem would be the best one for keeping BBRY an independent OS/Hardware entity and would be a major rebuke of the TH strategy of the past 2 years.

    Put Mike L Back.
    1. Throw TH under the bus and all his comrades. esp that french guy.
    2. Investigate why B2X (a german company) was called in for service and BB ended spending double for less work.
    3. Investigate all the consultancy firm TH called in and how much money they wasted (who benefited).

Qualcomm could be looking to get in this for connections to Mike L's nanotechnology resources. If Qualcomm is feeling the sting now they're likely trying to look for the next big thing which looks to be nano chips.

Cerberus could be in it because Mike L made a strong case. Also don't forget about the John Scully reports. I have a strong feeling he will jump in on this too.

Qualcomm probably sees an opportunity to increase sales, by cutting out the markup of the processors that go into the phones.
It would be interesting to see what it costs to build each processor and what they charge BB for said chips.

If mike l and the rest of the group were to put in a bid, I am sure that they would have agreement in place preventing the company from being broken up for an amount of time.
