Good news to me regardless of how it affects BB or BBMo as it's a necessary sacrifice to Apple, Google and Microsoft if you want to protect your IP collectively. Just ask Cisco how they feel? What if Nortel could answer the question too?

That cheap inhumane manufacturing labor comes with a price. You really have to know your stuff when you are dealing with them and then you have to be lucky so your product is not in an industry their government is interested in.

Political ideology starts the problem and it just went downhill from there.

It's entirely plausible there's a possibility, it's the particular probability that we need to postulate.

Huawei has been preparing for this... they have their own OS to fall back on.

This is just a warning shot.... Either China blinks or others like OnePlus, Oppo and even TCL's brands will be next cannon fodder.

They never really have been. I’m OK with the stance and so are many Americans since it’s our country that’s choosing to defend it’s own economy. Other countries are free to choose to support the other side or support neither... Although not sure how well that was for Switzerland or some other “neutral” players in the past...

You can only be taken advantage of for so long and then you stand up and say enough.

That might work; allay any suspicions of being Chinese spyware by partnering with their US government equivalent (may I remind you they're all feds from top to bottom).

Ha, ha!!! Yes, they could and it would be awesome if it were licensed out in the market again because it is such a smooth operating system to use compared to what is out there now, but no apps (which everyone complained about), BlackBerry let go of almost everyone that developed the software and would have to hire a huge amount of people at a huge cost to get it up and running again and.... so on and so on.

Unless they're secretly an arm of the Communist Party and/or blockade running dumbphones to North Korea or whatever, there shouldn't be much reason to worry.

We're probably getting off topic, but in the larger holistic picture over many years it's probably less about non-US countries specifically trying to take advantage of the US than about US companies years ago starting to take advantage of globalization opportunities as a means to squeeze out more profit for themselves (ie: pushing the work to non-US factories) or to have to encourage more consumerism with cheaper products in order to continue to survive with demanding growth, and it's part of that overall tide which the US is now trying to influence towards a different direction.

That’s been part of the overall situation. US dropped or lowered tariffs expecting reciprocal treatment. Didn’t happen and now we’re renegotiating. So goes life.

For everybody complaining. Pick a side to support and go with it. Teach President Trump a lesson and support the other side. Seems pretty simple. We’re looking out for ourselves. Do the same.

Not sure that American farmers who depend on Chinese purchases will share your enthusiasm. I wonder too what will happen if China refuses to sell some critical component that Apple needs?

So I guess those purchases of food products go elsewhere. Glad they have enough to eat over there. It’s called trade war for a reason.
