I think this would be great news for BB. A lot of my friends on BBs feel orphaned, not having access to the various social messaging apps available to android and iphones.

One of the things I always enjoyed about my BB was BBM. Hopefully it is released soon!

I noticed the changes have nothing to do with a leaked version.

I am sure some of the delay is getting approval from Apple and Google. Also, BBM will compete with Hangouts and iMessage.

Nah, Google/Apple isn't holding it up, and the stripped down cross-platform version won't be able to compete with Hangouts as-is

Really hope BB have got their act together this time. My daughter uses an i4S and my son an S4 Active so I have a vested interest in this. I use a Q10 and a Note 2.

This is getting out of hand. I thought that the actual Android version that they were going to release was fine, and they said supposedly it was just the leaked apk that was causing the issue? My understanding is that the two versions were different. Now with a new round of beta testing it's looking like the final release version was what caused the server issues.

No, Blackberry just doesn't know what they're doing. Inept comes to mind.

Painful. After all the hoopla, another crash to to floor and another black eye.

    Thorsten needs to go.

No 'beta ' testing for iOS? Then why haven't they released that one, they already know there is going to be a lot of sign ins early on and taxing the system. BlackBerry's only consistent in one area, never learns anything from previous mistakes.

That was removed in the production version I believe.

I'm not that technical, but could it be that their teams continue to optimise BBM & release it in Beta while other teams focus on blocking the leaked BBM version that was causing trouble with their servers?
