Using Sachesi, do you have to find a release compatible with your brand of phone, say, 100-3? Or will any version work?

Just apologising for posting the identical info in the BB10 forum a little while ago. I really did search here for it first and this thread didn't come up. Didn't mean to step on any toes in my excitement! :-)

BlackBerrys update process in the first year of BlackBerry 10 wasnt fantastic for its U.S. customers. Aside from some specific Z10 owners that are on Verizon, the U.S. BB10 consumer base has been stuck with 10.1 officially up until this point. You can mainly blame American wireless carriers for that, but obviously, BlackBerry hasnt been too happy with how its gone either.

Tomorrow, BlackBerry 10.2.1 will officially be launched at 8am EST, and a lot of carriers will have the update available right away including one U.S. carrier, Verizon. Big Reds Z10 will be getting 10.2.1 tomorrow morning with no limitations on number of users that have access to it, like before. If youre on AT&T, T-Mobile, or Sprint though, dont worry, your update is coming a lot sooner than we expected originally.

According to sources with knowledge of the update, BlackBerry is planning on having every major carrier in the world have a 10.2.1 update available to its customers by the end of February, with most jumping on board within the first couple of weeks. The great news for those of us in the States, is that that plan also includes the four major U.S. carriers.

Weve been given a few tentative dates for U.S. carrier 10.2.1 releases, but keep in mind these are subject to change. The keyword here is tentative, but for now, they seem pretty solid to us.
    Verizon Z10: Starting tomorrow, January 28th, 2014
    Verizon Q10: Tuesday, February 4th, 2014
    Verizon Z30: Monday, February 10th, 2014
    AT&T Z10 & Q10: Monday, February 10th, 2014
    T-Mobile Z10 & Q10: Mid-February (anywhere from Feb 10th to Feb 20th)
    Sprint Q10: End of February

U.S. carriers apparently circumvented 10.2 all together, and were able to get their asses out of their heads for enough time to approve 10.2.1 in a timely fashion. Hopefully these updates go smoothly, and everyone can enjoy 10.2.1, and all the benefits it brings along.

I've never been able to do a carrier approved update because I'm usually a few versions ahead. Looks like the pattern will continue...

    ALRIGHT ! Finally.

On Sat., I spent over 30 min in an on-line chat w/an AT&T rep who gave software crashes as the reason for the delayed release.

    1) BB release updates to the Consumer w/ warnings stating installation in advance of Carrier release may cause problems (aka Buyer Beware - just like on the BB "For Sale" section of Crackberry.
(I am sure the BB Legal Team can find creative use of the English language to pull an end run...semantics. We did something similar at work the response from the responsible agency was quicker turns on releasing their products down to 4-6 months from the prev 18-24 mos.).
    2) Incorporate or release the "leaked" versions as OTA or download.
    3) Step up Customer Service response.

Has anyone researched, compared & consolidated the updates / releases across the carriers & phone types Android, Apple, Windows phones e.g. (feasible or applicable?).

If any of this is stated in a prev entry, I apologize fore the redundancy.

    Cheers

The U.S. carriers need a case of e-pen1s envy and not let the other guys get their updates before them. Verizon should advertise the fact they are beating the other 3 (and the others in response push their dates forward so not to be the last ones...).

Think the days of being a few versions ahead appear to be over.. unless you work for BlackBerry. Unless a new leak is about to drop.

    Being objective for a second
Why would att go to the trouble of rolling out 10.2 when it knew a much better update was just around the corner?

Yeah, all Canadian carriers have been on day one for all of the updates so far.
No, for the very first Z10 update, Bell was a week or so behind.

I still haven't forgiven them for it.

I think Verizon's release will confirm if they will stick to these dates or not... If VZ delays, rest will most likely delay...
I hope this is not another multi platform BBM release fiasco..

"Sorry, our servers crashed, please wait 1 more month while we get our sh*t together and re-release"
    or
"Verizon screwed up, we noticed they released it prematurely few days earlier and this caused a major issue with our servers, now you all have to wait 1 more month"..
