Samsung to reportedly launch phone upgrade program alongside Galaxy S7 | Android Central so now that Samsung and Apple are both doing it, why doesn't BlackBerry? Would it not help boost sales? Allow and upgrade every year. Plus I'm assuming the phone would be unlocked.

I don't know if this could happen without carrier support. I pay a monthly bill to my carrier each month, and get new devices every 12 months, either Samsung or Apple.

Apple does it without carrier support. I am sure Samsung will to.

There is quite a difference between a "payment plan" and an "upgrade plan."

In the End.... it sure seems as if we are paying more now than we did before. Has me looking at some of these unlimited prepaid plans, as they seem to be much cheaper.

What works for me is to find the carrier monthly plan that is the best for me, and then buy my phones from ShopBlackBerry, Amazon, Walmart, or ?? whichever has a good sale on phones.

BB can't afford to tie up its money for years in order to offer a factory payment plan - and that's exactly what they'd have to do in order to offer one. BB needs to turn inventory back into cash ASAP in order to fund future operations - they aren't sitting on tens of billions of dollars like Apple or Google or Samsung...
