BlackBerry 10 smartphones use standard data plans unlike the BIS/BES data plans with BlackBerry 7 smartphones. There are no subscribers with standard data plans so subscriber numbers become irrelevant if those subscribers either switch to BlackBerry 10 or they are replaced by new BlackBerry 10 users.

I can guarantee a couple of things:

    1) the downward spiral in BB subscriber numbers has not abated
    2) the number of BBOS subscribers not been replaced by any stretch by BB10 users
    3) if there was any positive trend in any number, BBRY would be publicizing those numbers and,
    4) Heins would be shouting any remotely positive number from the rooftops.

Don't forget, BBRY issued a stand alone press release when an unnamed customer purchased one million BB10 devices back in March: (BlackBerry Partner Purchases One Million BlackBerry 10 Smartphones - Press Releases).

Given the pathetic overall sales for BB10, it seems as though a single buyer was responsible for a bulk of BB10 related sales! Imagine if subscribers went up in a quarter (highly unlikely given the sales numbers and revenue figures reported).
