T-Mobile U.S.A. customers would have blamed T-Mobile, but now that BlackBerry ended their contract with them and said that they would fully support BlackBerry users on T-Mobile's network, the onus is on BlackBerry to deliver updates...
BB did not renew the contract. It doesn't mean contract terms from the previous ones regarding updates are still not in effect, it will still go thru Tmob. From the carrier perspective it doesn't make sense not to insert language regarding who can update that outlives the sales contract, after all if I as Joe Consumer is still paying monthly fees on contract to Tmob on the phone I"m going to them for problems not the OEM just like every other carrier in the US.

I would just like to see a 10.3 that was a little more usable as an everyday use.

Maybe they'll just merge 10.2.2 and 10.3.0 together and release it sometime this summer with 10.3.1 being targeted for the "Classic".

This is 10.3.1...which means 10.3 out much earlier! 10.3 will be the update we want anyways! 10.3.1 will be great to have, but 10.3 will bring the revamped OS which is the best part! and since 10.3.1 will be out before end of year...even if it is dec 31 I don't care, that just means 10.3 will be out by at least September! So thats the good news and awesome thing that can be taken from this!
I would agree with you on 10.3.

But then, 10.2.1 was a bigger update, feature-wise, over 10.2 than the OS numbering would normally infer. With what they did, 10.2.1 should have probably been given a 10.3 number, then 10.3 would be 10.4. But, they didn't do that.

Still, I wouldn't dismiss 10.3.1 as not being significant enough too quickly until we know more. It may not be. But, it may.

Well, the worldwide 10.2.1 OS release was on Feb, I think

I wouldn't be surprised if 10.3.1 gets released on Feb as well. BlackBerry 10 2nd year since released...makes sense doesn't it?

If 10.3.1 is coming end of the year, when is 10.3 coming?

Since Mr. Chen told about a Classic release for November i was expecting 10.3 to be released with the new device.
He doesn't want any leak but 10.3 has to be adapted to the tool-belt so there would be a lot to learn about the next devices if 10.3 is out before the new phones, or am i wrong?

You mean we'll learn that the new device will have a tool-belt?!

Did you notice something? With every new number, we are receiving a new flagship phone.

    10.0 was z10
    1 Month later
    10.0.1 OS Update
    2 Months later
    10.1 was q10
    3 Months later
    10.1.1 OS update
    3 Months later
    10.2 was z30
    3 Months later
    10.2.1 OS update
    3 Months later
    10.2.2 Z3 screen compatibility
    3 Months later?
    10.3 will be something....
    10.3.1 the BIG ONE

So it seems to be May and August and then November.

It seems as if they would be highly busy with many different projects and focus on the stuff under the hood first and then move on to implement the new features as they become ready.

Since the much needed fixes and improvements that finally allow us to proudly recommend the OS have come with 10.2, we are now seeing the focus shifted on adding bells and whistles everywhere.

Most rumours I heard have been suggesting that BlackBerry has BIG plans and the future OS updates will make us wow.

Now is the time where all of it is getting mixed in.

Seeing that Android is getting updated under the hood and it's has been recently overhauled, I could be right in assuming that we will see many amazing "new" features that will combine the best there is on other devices- e.g. siri and Google NOW as well as some proprietary innovations like picture password.

I'd had the impression that 10.3.0 would be released first on the Z3, and that that's a necessity because of support for the new screen rez. I don't have a specific reference for that, though, so I could well be wrong.

AIR apps suck! They are resource hogs and run slow. Adobe abandoned the mobile market after BlackBerry spent so much time integrating that garbage into the PlayBook which forced them to transition the entire OS and was partially responsible for the BB10 delay.

Yeah, I remember the old Settings app/UI on BB10. Slow as hell.

    It worked, but was slow.

For developers, I feel for them, but it was perhaps unwritten that Adobe AIR was going to be eventually killed off. After all, basically no one else supports it.

I think that it's gonna launch in June with the the BlackBerry classic. 10.3 will launch in may or June since that would follow the 4 month gap.

I don't think 10.3 will be launched in May...most likely 10.2.2 will be launching in that time period and will allow for the different screen rez.

Until you hear it direct from BB (and I don't mean some employee speaking off the record, I mean in an official release from the company or a statement directly from Chen), it's all speculation. That said, surely Chen knows that BB's credibility took hits when releases didn't take place when mentioned (though I think there's a shred of "well I heard _____ was going to be released _______, and it didn't happen - so I'm blaming Blackberry for it" getting mixed in there). That's why since he officially committed the Classic to a November release, I'd be shocked if he lobbed that out without some kind of factual expectation that it would be available for release by then. If anything, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw the Classic available before November.

The same is likely to be true for other devices, OS releases, etc. - you're probably not going to hear a lot of dates officially announced, but when they are there's a better chance of them actually being hit.

the SDK is just dropping in May, I highly doubt it will be official that same month...

before the last Roadmap, I was thinking Sept/Oct, but now my "expert" prediction is August.

    you can bet on it!
