I'll come out of retirement to make one comment on this.
The wireless group was a major innovator for BlackBerry from day 1, these guys delivered a platform that gave best in class reception, voice quality and data transfer - things people on Crackberry had pride in. Many of these guys were here from the start, they are more blackberry than heins or chen.
The loss of this group marks the end of innovation in a key product aspect, blackberry are now just one of the pack.
The loss of these guys IS a big deal, I wish them all well.
So basically it's truly bad news and that we should not expect much more fixes, is that it?

Honestly the bugs that are present in most recent releases are really irritating. The only thing that's keeping me and many other users with blackberry is the HUB (and all messaging functionality that comes with it). That's it. If there was an equivalent of hub on Android/Windows/iOS, there wouldn't be a BB today.
Nobody cares about much else, yeah sure their devices just looks fine, feels good, but let's not kid ourselves, it is nothing special. So if they don't build more on the existing blackberry fan base and invest more in exclusive features that kept people with blackberry, they will be doomed forever. When you mention best in class reception, voice quality and data transfer and many of us who experience wifi problems, crawling data transfer speeds, lack of USA GSM compatible LTE devices, voice quality that's similar to other recent devices in the market, I can easily see those guys being laid off. If they couldn't come up with the stuff to put the BB on the spot, perhaps they weren't that good. Sure, marketing is one thing and we can't really say Chen or anyone else pulled anything special, but if we are still talking about minor issues and simple bugs that took major releases to fix, I guess that may have gotten some people upset.

I also have to remind you all how dog-eat-dog the tech industry has been in recent years, nobody cares about pride or being there since the beginning, they all look at results, and whoever is the new "boss" now considers those people you mentioned just expandables. Usually the corporate is not as sentimental as you or me, they look at it from a business perspective.

None of the bb10 devices contain the blackberry wireless groups radio implementation. Instead they went for a bought in qualcomm solution, the same as on many other phones. Maybe this explains the mediocre quality compared to earlier blackberry models.

no one seems to know, not even the OP... so if no one knows whats the big news is, how can they be sure it's big or if it even is worthy of calling it as news...

and if no one knows, then why go and post such a thing??? it's like me posting everyday, Big announcement at BB... anyone know when the new device will be launched... well in this case i'd be narrrowing it down to devices... but in the OPs case it's wide open, like a... like a... well use your imagination...

Guys, he's right, I just heard it too, I have more information though: John Chen is wearing Apple branded underwear today and now Prem Watsa wants to demote him to janitor! Quickly, call the WSJ and AOL!
Big news - John Chen creates my space account!!!!

So, unless drastic changes or area specific strategy, I'll take this (above posts) with a pinch of salt.
Yes, maybe this is the big news the OP is talking about. Your guess is as good as mine. I do like the BES10 cloud idea as this will really open up Blackberry to a whole new market of customers. Very clever and something that has the potential of generating consistent revenue over time.

I just read that... Did you notice that in that interview the Q20 was actually talked about? Or did everyone miss that?

It said When Q20 launches, BES12 will launch: that will be a powerful package for the enterprises

I wish posts wouldn't post if the grammar and spelling aren't correct. Even if you're not a native English speaker, some of these posts are obvious typos and/or Eubonics Textards.

Agree but think about it, If we had more people just make a note of his error and warn the OP instead of going on and on about the typo and coming up with things that they assume would be funny, we would be a lot more productive. I can see half of first two pages of this thread can easily be removed but site needs some activity too. So who is more irritating, the typo on the thread or the people who just build up on it and waste more time.

My inside sources say John Chen really isn't a fan of grapes, thus all grapevine information is likely to be useless.
Should be seedless too. That way more threads like this one won't spread..........lol

That's a great occasion to remind us fellow CrackBerrians that's there's two simple actions for that :
1/ PM the author with kindness and courtoisie, therefore he can add something to clear it out in OP
2/ Use the report button with kindness and courtoisie to alert a mod about it.

Easy as a post, while probably much more efficient

Overall, I agree with you (edited, to be clear).
In this particular thread, the big/bug confusion was funny, as - AFAIK - no big info was revealed.
I've not seen mean posts, yet I must say I'm pretty uncomfortable with the image you sent. Some old school forumers (me) may be tempted to vote a Godwin point for that.

I see your Godwin point and raise you a wikipedia article, making the term Grammar Nazi a norm and totally unrelated to the Nazis of Germany.

    grammar nazi

A Grammar Nazi is a common term used on the internet and on social websites for an individual noticing a grammatical or spelling mistake and correcting consistently.

    Edit:
The last thing I want is to make someone on this forum uncomfortable unintentionally. So I edited my post.
