Let's sure hope so. 20 million + 70 million existing BB "subscribers" certainly makes for great critical mass. There are 3 iPhone users in this household who have already downloaded BBM.

My Bbm list has gone from 1 to 15 in the last 25hrs but I think Chris was right in his article. I've had to mentioned it to everyone and help them get friends set up. Either way very happy to see my list growing.

Even if half are using it then it's still a good number. I know all my friends who downloaded it are using it. Remember whatsapp has over 200 million users but you can bet not all use it either.

    Actually, they have over 350million

Forget downloads... downloads mean nothing. How many iOS and Android users are actually signed up and are using it... My guess, is this. Since there has been no official press release from BlackBerry, it ain't good. I'm not being pessimistic, but you would think any sort of good news is worth screaming from the roof tops. Not silly one page ads in news papers...
    Downloads mean nothing??????
You cant begin to try it if you don't download it first, correct??
Maybe you should say, "downloading is only the the first stage" or something to that effect.
I work in a field where I must do estimates before I get the job. True, I don't get every job, but without the estimates, I wouldn't get any jobs.

    BlackBerry needs to:

    - ADVERTISE LIKE CRAZY
    - Keep the maintenance up and keep updating the app regarding improvements and bugs

I really hope BB doesnt charge its users. I really hope not. Not even a dollar. We need to keep up the positive exposure.

Why advertise a free product that doesn't generate any revenue yet and is practically advertising itself? Talk about a waste of money.

If BBM supported iPad, iPod, and other various Android tablets, I'm sure the total downloads would be close to double the amount.

You really think it would double the numbers by allowing tablets? lol. Let's be realistic.

Adding tablet support wont gain anything IMO because you need multiple BBIDS and contact lists. Its way to complicated to manage.

Most people from other platforms don't care for bridge. They want to be able to login once and use it on multiple devices.

Also, if history is any guide by the end of the commercial people still would have no idea what BBM is. Is it a foreign airline, or a vacuum cleaner, or ???

20 million downloads is a nice number.

I just hope they thoroughly test the app before they put out updates. This first update for iOS fixed a bug iOS caused I believe, but now they made their own bug. Trying to access the contacts tab automatically crashes the app. Even after a reinstallation. At least for my 5S.
