From my perspective, Apple buying RIM wouldn't be something I would like. For practical reasons. I'd love more market differentiation, more choice, and more competition.

I just hope that RIM can pull through these challenging times (which will be tremendously hard for them to do) and offer a great alternative to what we already have in the market.

I have a personal preference for bananas so could RIM buy them as well as apple,
RIM couldn't afford an apple or a banana. Nothing against them as I own a bazillion Blackberry devices.

Does it matter who buys RIM? Do people even know who owns RIM now? I don't.

Apple maybe the one buying RIM in the end and access all its business side this way, get all RIM's patents and get the QNX business too (cars, etc.). They have the money to do it.
    What do you think Blackberries?
    MAJOR LOL!!!

This is the what happens to one when one is starved of BB's latest and greatest for an entire year.

Suffering BB withdrawal symptoms I see? Hang in there. Next round of leaked BB10 homescreen screenshots are due right about now

Apple buying RIM makes a ton of sense, remember, the number one phone at Apple is the BB 9930. All the senior bass need to get things done there.

See, they have a vested interest to keep RIM around. They can't be trying to destroy RIM like the conspiracists say. They need BBs.

Doubtful. Apple could always license some patents though, like the LED, that would be handy.
Curious, the new HTC One S has a LED indicator that changes colors for notifications, my HTC Radar has a LED indicator also. I wonder if HTC has a licence or maybe something from feature phone days.

If apple did buy at least a portion of RIM they would be smart to leave it pretty much alone thereby bolstering a legitimate competitor and avoiding looking like a monopoly.
Much like MS did with their investment in apple back in the late 90s

Oh dear lord; I'm shuddering at thinking of the horrors of using Itunes to put stuff on my BB phone or Playbook. This would be THY worst thing to ever happen.

My 2006 Nokia E50 had a beautiful LED notification around the joystick. I even called the phone a "firefly". I doubt that LED notifications are even patented.
