Someone needs to get a lawsuit out over this:

10 ways to tell that you're out of touch at work - Telegraph

Probably supposed to be 'funny', but instead just awful, awful journalism.

The writer did it as a "click bait". If he is truly serious he should know that BlackBerry was the first "smartphone".
The last time I checked, BB phones are still very smart.

Interesting the way the media changes the way we perceive things.
They have essentially implanted the idea in some people's minds that "smartphone " means full touchscreen, and that any smartphones prior to fulltouch screens were not smartphones.

Palm and Windows were making smartphones before BB, and even they weren't the first.

BlackBerry had the first smart device with the mobile pager.

I'd say they had the first smart mobile pager. First smart device though, I would give to the autonomous PDA's that could connect to networks (which for the consumer would probably be from Palm, simply because the Apple Newton was a dismal failure).

The world's first Smartphone is 22 years old this year. It was invented by IBM in1992. It was dubbed The Simon by its inventors.

The Simon?s innovations included a touchscreen, contacts, calendar and pager. You could even email (albeit awkwardly) and fax to and from it.
The Simon, introduced in 1992, was truly the original. Read more: http://mmcneil.com/2012/01/who-reall...he-smartphone/

    You're actually very wrong!

Definition of a smartphone is to be able to make calls.

I've stated BlackBerry is not the first smartphone for a few times in CA threads with irrefutable proof, nobody has yet challenged. BlackBerry needs to stop making this statement and has the last few videos as well.

BlackBerry - Accept no substitute. Period!

Unfortunately I don't think it was ever sold to the public but that is indeed correct information on being the first. Great find!! There are others sold publicly that still beat BlackBerry because early bb's could not make calls.
