N4BB is reporting that the amount of users on BBM will hit 100 million, with in excess of 45 million on IOS and android.

This is way too high and i can't see this being true.. 80-85 million is more reasonable.

Goodbye BBM Line, and Hello 100+ Million Users - N4BB

    What do you guys think

i find it hard to believe. 80-85 would be more in line with my thoughts. They had close to 60 already lets say so if they got 20 million they are over 80. I read the article but they didnt say how they arrived at those numbers

How would we know how many there really are? Downloads don't match users 1:1.

    Even Pins:Users is not 1:1.

I think the important stat here is active pins. BlackBerry is processing 500k activations per hour so very possible that we hit 100M by Monday.

I doubt they are doing 500k an hour now and will keep this rate up till Monday.

I think once that waiting list is eliminated the download numbers will bump up to 100m. I'm holding off on BBM, no sense downloading if I have to wait. Content with WhatsApp and I only have one friend with a Z10. I don't have time to persuade my other friends to switch to BBM as our messages are mostly small talk. If I do get BBM, it will just be an extra icon on my 3rd home screen along with ChatOn, Viber, and Hangout, messaging I only use if needed.

There is no fact in this statement.

Just one's imagination and hopeful thoughts for BBM.

What's difficult to believe? They say 100,000,000 subscribers. Not 100,000,000 NEW subscribers.

70M BlackBerry owners (quite easy to believe half are using Bbm), the likelihood of 45M newer BBMx subscribers and growing over the weeks and it's not the slightest bit far fetched.

    This
But 100m new subscriber is not farfetch in a near future, I mean 20millions new subscribers since launch is not nothing.

Android and iPhone fan better thank BlackBerry for making their phone better. I prefer subscribers, not followers.

    Should have been more clear.

    Yes, the lines are done.

But there is no basis to say 100m subscribers.

I don't doubt it, its been almost 1 week and BBM is still trending on the top 10 among almost every social media platform. And the nice thing is...its not the BB users that are forcing this trend, its those who have jumped ship that are re-discovering the service.

I believe 100million is a great critical mass....BBMx looks like its here to stay!

It's a little like the difference between shipped and sold though. Just because people downloaded it, doesn't mean they're actively using it. What constitutes active?

True, but whatsapp is at 250 million downloads - not active users. So for comparative purposes it's fine. I would also bet that bbm users r more active than whatsapp
