Well... Matters on what kind of data file it is. Some files cannot be read without third party apps. .pdf's etc. You can see anything that is supported by the media player. Otherwise you may have to read it from the Desktop Manager, etc.
Sorry to be so vague. I just don't know what kind of data you are trying to view. Or how you put it on the micro SD card in the first place. Did you use the Blackberry Desktop Manager?

To my knowledge, the only file type that you can open while it's stored on a Media Card is a txt file. You cannot open .doc, .xls, .ppt, or .pdf files without using 3rd party software. eOffice and Docs-to-Go are two. eOffice is available now; a basic version of Docs-to-Go is included in OS 4.5.
