My neighbor gave me an unlocked 8700c to use on an upcoming trip to Germany. My primary use for it is just as a phone, but since the Prepaid provider I use (solomo.de) has a decently priced data plan I thought it might useful to browse the web and check email.

From what I been reading it sounds like this isn't possible, but if it was, I figure you guys would know.

    Thanks in advance.

    Welcome to CrackBerry.

BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) is the component you need to access your email and the Internet Browser. The base data plan will not activate those features.

I don't think there are any pre-paid plans that support BIS.

Thanks. I figured that was probably the case. I bought it from my neighbor primarily for the quad-band unlocked phone, but that keyboard kept calling to me "email, email, email"
