I'm 16 and this would be my first smart phone. I currently have a Motorola Slvr and I love its small size. I have no preference when it comes to which blackberry I get. I'm on at&t, and the only blackberry I don't want is the 8800 due to its lack of camera. I would like to keep the price at around $150 but I could go up to $200 if necessary. Which phone would be better for a first time blackberry user?

Here's a comparison between Curve and Pearl

Either one would be a great first Blackberry, so watch out for deals, rebates or any other specials that AT&T may be running.

Don't know where you live but, here in CA AT$T is advertising all their BB's at $99. For the same price I'd jump on the Curve over the Pearl.

I would go with either the Curve or the Pearl both good phones. Curve has a bigger screen. Pearl has suretype. If your cantract is up for renewal go to Amazon and order there then you will get the Pearl or the Curve for free and get a rebate also which puts money in your pocket.

Yeah, but the Curve is $200 up front while the pearl is $150 up front. Each have rebates so that u end up spending $100.

That Chaz has all the answers.

My suggestion is to go to AT$T and play with both phones to determine which one fits your needs the most. For me the Pearl was too small in my hand and I wasn't a fan of the SureType.

Just an observation here, but I've seen a whole lot more people here (including myself) go from Pearl to Curve than I've seen go from Curve to Pearl. just saying....
