    i'm pretty sure it's programs/applications that aren't developed by RIM, but works on RIM devices.

    kind of like those universal remotes that works on your t.v.

    They are applications that are not pre-installed on the phone. So, like games or anything that you need to install yourself

    i just got my phone and im installing 4.5 os right now i had 4.2 earlier today
    and i use a curve
