Ok. I figured out how to view text files on the 8830.

    Basically, here's the scenario:

I have a 2gig MicroSD Kingston memory card in my 8830. I connected the 8830 to my PC via the USB cable. It then appears as a drive on my PC (k Dirve on my PC). I transfer text files from my PC to the 8830 (K:\BlackBerry\Files). I created a directory on the K Drive named FILES. This is where I store my personal data/text files on SD card.

I disconnect the 8830 from the PC (can't use the SD memory while connected via the USB cable). To view the text files I do the following:

Select "Media" - this takes you to the media selection screen
    Press the "menu" key
    Select "Explore"
    Select "Media Card"
    Select "Blackberry"
    Select "Files"
    Select "<filename>.txt"

There!! Done!! If it's a regular text file, you should be viewing the text file now.

For a newbie I would say this calls for a cold one and enjoy my success.

All I see is a black box, text only shows up if I select it. Basically, same exact problem as if I try to open text files from device memory
