Hey. Just wanted to say hi to everyone, and that I'm a total noob as far as the Crackberry goes. I just got mine three days ago, and I'm hooked! I'm actually on it right now, at the same time that I'm on my laptop. Wow...how bad is that? This is my first Crackberry, and I'm sure that there will be many more to come. I opted to go with the 8100 because of its compact size, the "pearl", the fact that it's got a camera (as opposed to the 8800), and the push-to-talk feature that Cingular offers. Well, that's pretty much it, and like I said, I'm hooked. Really just looking for ways to optimize my new drug of choice, and new software that I can have fun with.

Welcome to Crackberry.com! If you find that you want a full QWERTY keyboard, you may want to keep your eyes open for the new Blackberry Curve too be released by AT&T very soon. Maybe within your 30-day exchange period. It will pretty much have the same features you currently have.

I was actually wondering if the Pearl can utilize personalized tones for messages (SMS, e-mail, PIN, etc)

Yes it can. Go into Profiles, and edit the profile with the tone you want for each notification.

what I meant was custom message tones per-person, like the custom ringtones.

go to profiles, and add 'exceptions' for the respective people that you want to have a specific ring tone. Or, go to the respective contact, edit, scroll to the bottom, and select "add custom ring tone"...
